Yes, I had forgotten that NZ are touring here next year. It's just in the interview the other day he said 'It'll be nice to check out the redevelopment next year' thinking that it meant he was playing for Notts but they've probably got a Test there. Hussey is quality, they'd be mad to get rid of him

And then there's the rumour Fleming is going Kolpak and joining Middlesex!

It would be great to see him go Kolpak and stick with Notts. ;-)

Yes, NZ have a Test at Trent Bridge.

Notts have made a fairly decent start against Middlesex - 284 for 4. It will be interesting to see how Shafayat does. He hasn't really cemented a place in the team; he's tended to make a reasonable start but not go on to a big score. Top score in CC Div2 so far is 79.

Would I be right in saying Patel hasn't been in good form these last few games?

Seems so. He ground out 50 against Northants though, in a match in which all the batsmen struggled.

That was a match winning 50 in the end.

Nothing big from Billy this time then. Hopefully playing the extra batsman will pay off 2nd time around. We're clearly gonna be happy with a draw here, and you can't blame Newell for going safety first.

I'm fairly happy with Notts' first innings effort even if they don't get any more runs (421 for 8). Read's had a good season with the bat. Another 50 today, and of course he's beaten his highest first class score twice this summer. Good performances in one day cricket too.

It's not the only ground which has a test against NZ but none in 2009 (as it stands at the mo).

Yes a bizarre decision to choose Cardiff over Manchester IMO. I'm still bitter about the whole thing. Especially considering how the Ashes tests at Trent Bridge and Old Trafford went last time around. I'll never forget that Sunday.

Don't get me started again on Cardiff. Grrrr.

Is there anyone that actually agreed with the decision? I'm yet to meet them.

So Notts manage a first innings lead - of 1. Not bad actually considering the state of their attack. Newell selected the team in the hope of forcing a draw anyway, and that's what it's likely to be unless one of the teams collapses spectacularly. A draw would do for me too in the circumstances. The teams have looked remarkably well balanced so far - fall of wickets in each innings has been pretty similar.

Does anyone have any pictures of the players and their moustaches? Sadly they've now shaved them off so I won't be seeing them tomorrow!
