Just flicked over to big bash and see that Melbourne Stars' gun batsman not good enough for England has won them a match. Good man.

Nothing new, he's probably been the best opener in the T20 Blast the last few years.

Just the 80,000 there today, like it or not you can't really knock that.

Gayle apologised but has been fined 5000 for asking the journalist out during a live TV interview. Argument ongoing on Sky News between an uptight feminist type and a laddish journalist. I agree with the latter. It was wrong of Gayle, unprofessional, but to think of the interviewer as some tender flower who couldn't cope with the situation is stupid.

This is an absolute joke. A cricketer has a bit of a flirt with a female and there is moral outrage. Headline - Man Asks Woman Out For A Drink. Did he make a lewd remark about her breasts? No. Did he tell her what he would like to do with her afterwards? No. These people who express moral outrage have obviously never seen an episode of Geordie Shore.

THE PC BRIGADE HAVE STOLEN ALL THE FUN OUT OF LIFE. WELL I'M F-ING STEALING IT BACK. WHO'S WITH ME?

And don't get me on these historical sex abuse cases. Some woman wanted to sue because back in the day a radio presenter or similar once kissed her shoulder.

The lady who "outed" Dave Lee Travis is so distraught about his behaviour that she talks about it regularly in her stand up comedy routine getting cheap laughs out of it.

You've missed the point (although you may be taking the **** and I've missed your point). And it sounds like he has a history (as does Bravo). They're probably not alone either, but that makes this more on an issue, not excuse it.

But go nuts.

It's completely bonkersisn't it? PC gone mad, stopping millionaire men from viewing successful professional women as little more than something to have sex with. How dare she and others supporting her, not like it!

Seriously, only a 5k fine? He should've been suspended for it, second offence (at least)and what he said to the journalist in the CPL was pretty nasty.

Meanwhile an unnamed journalist has been watching hardcore porn in the MCG press box. I think that is far worse!

Gayle's behaviour was unprofessional and inappropriate and he has been fined accordingly. But it was a little gentle banter - of course totally wrong in a live TV interview. It's taken quite a while for women to be more prominent in the men's game but there are now women commentators, presenters, reporters, photographers, statisticians etc. They do their jobs professionally and the men in cricket should get used to it. (Unlike Mourinho with the female medic). Can't imagine what Gayle was thinking of, but it was probably a silly lapse. Just because he said he liked her it doesn't mean he saw her just as someone to have sex with. Well I hope not.

The journalist didn't suffer any harm, and the woman on Sky News who thought she'd been violated in some way was over-reacting big time.

For once I agree with you, all except that Gayle has previous and lives your traditional rock/hip hop star lifestyle of groupies and strippers, so I don't think we should be quite so kind on him.

It is all a bit silly. Someone needs to write down some rules. Here are a few

1. Females commenting on David beckham being hot and not caring about football = okay
2. Men commenting on Jessica Ennis hill's looks but not caring about athletics = sexist.
3. Loose women on lunchtime TV flirting with a male guest and asking to feel his muscles = lighthearted fun
4. Cricketer flirts with female = sexist
5. Butler in the buff to a hen do = bit of a giggle
6. Stripper to stag do = exploiting women

I wonder what would happen if they changed the format of take me out and had loads of blokes going phwoor at one woman.

Sometimes women do get a bad deal but if people are going to complain it needs to go both ways.

Maybe if men took a stance against these things they'd become less socially acceptable.

There are worse examples you could've picked, ones worth really complaining about.

I'm surprised how much this overlooked and it's just "a lapse". The lapse is that he did it on camera, this time. And the "overreaction" as is often with these things, albeit exaggerated by today's Twitter world, stems a lot from his non-apology (politician style of apologising for any offense taken, rather than the actual offense).

It's not that big a deal, so apologise properly and cut it out. That seems to me to be an easier solution that behaving poorly and then trying to play it down.
