Even by Somerset standards this match has been impressive. 160 first innings lead and going To lose by about 150. Captain Abel averages 1.

Early tea at Lord's and going by how dark the City is looking, I'm not sure how much more play they'll be getting.

I wonder how stupid James Franklin is feeling now after needlessly batting on last night. Had he declared when Gubbins was out it would have been all over by now.

Looks a bit brighter now. Middlesex definitely caught a break with the bad light being during lunch and then tea.

Totally unbelievable. Liam Livingstone take a bow. (whilst others have contributed, his runs were primarily responsible). Perhaps also down to the choice of Livi as captain. Suspect he wont remain uncapped (by Lancs) very long.

Can't wait for the next match - only a month away.

Commentators at the Surrey-Warks game were effusive in their praise of Livingstone. In addition to proclaiming boldly that he has that most mythical of qualities - "it" - they also remarked on how everything he touched with his tender captain's hands had turned to gold against Surrey.

That would be horrific if it were true. Unfortunately, you've doubled Abell's average.

Evidently taking to the captaincy like a duck to water.

Why put such responsibility on one so inexperienced when he has so many experienced heads around him?

Franklin (3, 0/58, did not bat, did no bowl) leads Middlesex to a draw.

I wonder how long the skipper will keep his place?

Compton's scoring runs for the 2nd XI and in Helm and Fuller they have two England Lions bowlers who must surely be better than his innocuous medium pace.

Remarkable stuff at Old Trafford. Somerset getting their choking over with early season this year, saving their fans the agony later on.

Helm did a decent job for the lions, too. Wonder if their issue would be with the length of the tail, although Murtagh, TRJ and Rayner can all bat a bit.

I suspect that's the issue, although Franklin's averaging in single figures this year anyway.

Yeah. As Rayner seems to have carried on where he left off last season (wonderful economy rate today and wickets in both innings) they could also go for a four man attack and go with Compton.

What's the deal with Eskinazi? Does he need a qualification period for England or is he already there?

Not good enough.

(At least at the moment)

Great result by Lancs and Jimmy wasn't needed to take the Lion's share of wickets.

but the commentators claimed his spell removing Trescothick and Davies was pivotal.

Yawn. This was just ****. Why does a team losing always have to be a choke? Devalues your argument when you over use a term. You are better than that.

Somerset arguing givinrg Abell the captaincy is fine because it worked for saffers and Smith is like people arguing that city based franchises are needed because they work in Australia. Just pick something you perceive is comparable and shout about it and say people who don't agree are being negative.

I must Admit that initially I thought it was a great idea but then I believed the Somerset spin machine. I already realise I was wrong and sometimes we should not believe everything people tell us.

Not quite sure what you're getting at, that we shouldn't trust your judgement on franchise T20 cricket because you're a Somerset fan?
