Well they host Glamorgan on Friday, so it's crunch time - for Leicestershire that is, because I don't think Glamorgan had high County Championship expectations to begin with.

Well I don't recall anyone setting up a game in mid-April before, and as I write it looks as if Northants will reap the reward.

The match at Trent Bridge isn't going to last four days. Batting doesn't look at all easy.

This ruling that the away team can choose to bowl first without a toss screws the home side if the weather is anything like cloudy. Notts benefited at Leicester and Chester-le-Street but they're on the receiving end this week.

I can't say it was particularly a decision i agree with, although i can see why Derbyshire opted for it. The frustrating thing is you come away from what was a relatively encouraging performance for three days feeling a little bit deflated, with a sense of having tossed the hard work away on a bit of a wim. Had Viljoen been in the side then maybe but the odds of that attack winning were always liable to be pretty slim.

It was always going to be the way at Trent Bridge

The frustrating thing from a Notts perspective is Sussex have Magoffin and 3 inexperienced seamers. He is a great bowler but can't bowl all day.

Wessels and Broad reaping the rewards of the others failures to see off Magoffin

Yep Sussex getting marmalised by these two. I can't understand the thinking going on with Sussex at the mo.

I'm not sure what choice they have. Magoffin and Archer are good but with so many injuries they have little back up.

I'd definitely pick Briggs, he was the best player in pre season and finished last summer strongly.

The ridiculous light rule comes into play now. Sussex decide to bring a quickie on so that the umpires take them off even though Wessels and Notts would happily stay out there. The old bad light rule was better.

What a good day for Notts having been inserted though.

I'd imagine Leics already have enough runs to win the match now

Darren Stevens, what a phenomenon, has five of the seven Derbyshire wickets to fall today. Gidman hasn't even seen the ball so far!

Finished in two days. Think this season will be a precession.

Having done the damage with the ball he's now pretty much taken the game away from Derbyshire with the bat. Seems to be a steady progress at Derbyshire on last year even if the ability to win key sessions still seems some way off. Perhaps the most encouraging individual performance of note thus far being Will Davies, although on the other side of the coin I'm not convinced tom milnes quite has it.

In the end they didn't even get enough runs to register a first innings lead. Stupid unpredictable county cricket. What a load of old cobblers.

A title tilt revolving around Broad and Pattinson?

How many games is Broad scheduled to play this season? Would assume it's more than usual with the CT confusing the schedule.

Pattinson won't play any more CC games in this spell, he might get a couple in after the Champions Trophy though. Broad should manage to play in a couple more before England decide to rest him for the South Africa series.

I think that Fletcher, Ball, Gurney, Wood and Hutton all have enough about them to bowl most teams out twice in this Division.

Even without Ball (who'll probably be carrying a lot of drinks for England this summer) that's still true.
