And in case anyone is interested there is a petition going to try to get radio coverage of Yorks games. Bob Hope and no hope I reckon, but if you fancy signing it...

We all think he's a bit good. He just needs to carry on being a bit good and preferrably get a bit better.

Yorkshire's 2nd XI get a run-out against Loughborough over the next few days. Not sure what the logic is in leaving McGrath out - he's our only out of form player, and could have used this to get some runs under his belt.

I agree. Some people think that playing Mags in this game would seem like a 'punishment' for not scoring, but I'd see it as the perfect opportunity to get some time in the middle which Anthony obviously needs.

Bit of play last night (in which Gale was dropped three times at first slip!). Intermittent this morning, although Adam Lyth has made a good start. No play in the Durham/Warks game yet

The aim of this game: To look at the next batsmen and bowlers in line, and help judge who should be picked due to injury. Especially in the important back-up seamer, Patts/Thorni/Shaz mish-mash

The aim of bowling every damn player in the team, seemingly aimlessly: Erm.....are we trying to lose?

Some old problems surfacing in the one-day game, after the first two encouraging wins. The batting is the usual 'you get the runs, whilst I **** around for 20' - White, Gale and even Rudolph are batting far too slowly at the start of their innings. At least Jakes accelerates later on....the other two don't get that far. Gilbert has to be fit in somewhere, probably in for Gale. No replacement is obvious for Chalky....I suppose Sayers could have a go.

Meanwhile, the bowling (Dizzy, Gough and Pyrah[!] apart) is expensive and not penetrative enough. Bresnan is a worry, he's blowing hot and cold in this form of the game. I'd be tempted to keep Rashid in, even if he's getting slapped around. There's little to no chance of us qualifying now, so might as well plan ahead, and try some youngsters....as usual And this was meant to be the one-day comp we'd do well in.....Pro40 was meant to be the joke game, where we play the seconds.

What I want to know is why we always take Pryah off when he appears to be bowling well

Rashid gone for 30
Seems to make a lot of starts.

Team seems a little batting light.

Compared to Chalky, he positively motors along.

What do you think about him opening Maty? Good idea? I'm not sure

never really like him opening to be honest he gets bogged down far to easily against the new ball and opening doesn't really play to his strengths but he has opened a fair bit for the Eagles with mixed results.

An awful lot of county teams seem to have been coming out light of batting recently. I don't quite understand it. It's good for Rashid to be batting in the top order though.

Our problem is the lack of Brophy in there. Guy's batting has definitely improved, and we'll hopefully see some results in this game, but Brez is been trusted to play ahead of him in the order. Still, I feel for several reasons we could have gone with four bowlers, and have brought Gale/Wood in for Kruis:

a) Guy's less than confidence-filling batting
b) Kruis' status and form unknown,
c) the many part-timers throughout the team
d) the dubious qualities of the young pacemen
e) the high quality demonstrated by the main four bowlers

The only doubt would be over giving Rashid/Gough too many overs.

However, on saying that, Durham have a similar bowler-heavy line-up, and anything approaching 400 in this innings would be a highly superior position with our attack set to kill.

Given how badly a lot of teams batted today I think we can give ourselves just a small pat on the back. (at least we were still there at the close... never mind tea time... or in Glamorgan's case... lunchtime)

Has Rudolph been awarded his cap already? I notice that he was wearing a helmet with the full white rose on in the game today. I thought that there was a tradition with the amount of Rose showing indicating whether they were capped or not.
