When everyone is back from the World Cup I think Smith should keep his place in the team ahead of Mahmood.

But do you honestly think that will happen.

Yes, Watkinson doesn't rate Mahmood, and the only reason why he played games for Lancs last summer was because he was part of the England setup, and England management put pressure on them to play Mahmood. A bowling attack of Cork, Chapple, Smith, Newby, Hogg, Keedy and Marshall is more than good enough.

I agree. If he doesnt get a game at Lancs though he is gonna have to move to get a game or his England career will end rather quickly.

I was just about to ask that. Lancs side looks a bit pie, if you ask me. Full of unknowns and oldies.

Are we going to have County Championship Round 1 etc, threads - be more useful.

If someone is not even good enough for their county, I would have thought it was logical to suggest he is not good enough for his country either...

He's never really been a regular in the Lancashire lineup as far as I remember.

That is very true, also when a spot became available he was injured for the majority of the time.

It is time for Sutcliffe to spend the rest of the season in the 2nd XI.

Have the Lancs 2nd XI played yet this season?

Wondering if Gaurav Dhar will get a game for them this season.

From the BBC site -
Lancashire coach Mike Watkinson, who worked with Fletcher on three England tours, told BBC Radio Lancashire: ""I'm not surprised because of the momentum that has built up through the media.

"But I think Duncan should be remembered for more than the failure in the World Cup because he's done a lot of good things.

"I certainly learnt a lot from him on the three tours that I went on with him.

Watkinson said he was flattered to have been touted as a possible replacement.

"It's certainly a great honour to be linked with that position but we'll have to wait and see how that situation develops."

Err no you are needed at Lancs.

But is now being linked with the academy job although Cumbes says the ECB have made no approach.

Good to see Keedy is planning on giving Murali a run for his money 9 wickets in the match so far. Newby has 5 in the match now as well so is justifying his selection above Smith.

Hi friends from Lancs

Things now look a bit interesting at Edgbaston tomorrow....

I popped in for the final session to see Warks finish on 95-6 . A lead of about 270 with 4 wickets left on the final day. Hmmm - could be interesting tomorrow for anyone thinking of making the trip ? A lot of wickets have fallen since 3pm today on both sides.....

Why is Hogg not a wicket taker. He is very economical but that's about it.
I was impressed with Newby when he went to Notts on loan and glad he is taking wickets. Hopefully he can keep his place in the team this season.

I see Watkinson is being tipped for the Academy job. If that happened it might be nice to have Fletcher as the new Lancs coach.
