So Benham back maybe. The batting is still strong. Is it on BBC radio tomorrow?

No Benham, Carberry fit again.

From the ECB -
'Shaun Udal is also absent as he continues his recovery from ankle ligament damage, but Michael Carberry returns after a knee injury.

Michael Brown's successive centuries have cemented his place at the top of the order alongside Jimmy Adams'.

I've seen something saying the opposite about Carberry and Udal!

Well four surprises today.

1 That it is not raining
2 Cork is not playing
3 Horton opening the batting
4 Tremlett not opening the bowling

We have an opener in Loye and Horton did well down the order in the last game.

4 down

It seems that Lancs have brought their early season rain curse with them!

Probably useful that it has rained although I have no idea what the pitch was doing so it might have been a green top.

I would have thought that is very unlikely...

I would have thought it had a massive puddle in the south west corner...

Hughes in the Telegraph today seems to think Harmison, Plunkett and Onions are better than Flintoff, Anderson and Mahmood. I think we would get more wickets and runs from our three on wickets in any country.

Based on performances to date, surely Hughes is correct? Although of course we haven't seen our three in Championship action, but the Durham lads have been performing well all season so far and certainly outgunned us in the FP match on Monday.

I think Geoff Boycott's grandmother by herself is better than Anderson and Mahmood, although the addition of Flintoff should even matters up a little.

Well their batsmen were setting a total and they were in attacking mode, ours were trying to chase and be defensive at the same time. If we were batting first their bowlers might have not looked so good. As it was Killeen and Onions were going for runs in the beginning and Killeen is a very economical bowler.

Don't forget that if wickets don't suit Harmison he is not as effective and I am not deciding who I think is better on performances so far but in general.

Flintoff was certainly no better than Anderson and Mahmood last Monday, being very expensive in his opening spell, then later in the innings when Plunkett was making hay. However, he remains immune from criticism, commentators being reluctant to say more than "he was a little expensive by his own high standards".

Seems to be a nasty case of suspended animation down at the Rose Bowl today. Tremlett's second ball has taken up an hour so far.

I somehow don't think we're going to get a result! Or much in the way of bonus points for anyone...

My suggestion is that Lancs get to 200 declare and ask Hants to bowl. Hopefully they won't forfeit their first innings! Anderson et al get some overs in and a chance of some more bowling points.
