Greatbatch's effort, on the other hand, I don't even know where to begin with.

Win the toss, win the match?
Katich is really suited to 20/20s.

I'll take that as a compliment .

After all it's very hard to post sensibly about cricket teams called the Super Kings, the Knight Riders and the ****ing Royal King Knight Riding Punjab Challengers etc etc. FFS.

Your male totty is almost preferable to your sarcasm.

14 from 14 balls and then he got a bit adventurous and hit a 6.

Actually, the fourth GIS result for "Simon Katich" is so utterly appropriate as a riposte to FBU that I sincerely considered posting it here, even though I'd probably be banned for doing so. Consider this an incentive for investigation.

Who the **** is Brett Geeves and what is he doing in the IPL? A little research shows he has a first class average of 38.78 and he plays for Tasmania so maybe that explains why he is playing for the Delhi devils!

He's a one-day specialist according to his cricinfo profile, and he was probably very, very cheap as well.

So far there have been more failures than successes for the overseas players in the IPL. Just looking at the batting -

McCullum 158 runs from 73 balls
Hussey 116/54
Hopes 71/33
Sangakkara 54/33

Ponting 20/20
DHussey 12/12
Kallis 8/7
White 6/10
Boucher 7/9
Noffke 9/10
Hayden 25/17
Oram 13/10
Katich 21/17
Watson 21/15
Lehmann 1/2
Warne 14/13

Could it be nerves or that they aren't in their team enivironment and are expected to be the star players for their Indian team. It's still early days. McCullum said he was very nervous and couldn't move his feet for the first six balls.

Scoring 25/17 is pretty good though and I wouldn't complain about 21/17 or 15 either. It's only partly a batsman's game, 20:20.

The 21/17 was one run from each ball he faced and a one 6 in the last over. One run a ball is ok to play yourself in for 3 balls but the run rate needed was 20 an over, getting them in ones is useless. He was expecting his partner to do all the work. The opposition won by 33 runs and he came in about 6 overs before the end so he had time to hit some fours and sixes.

Maybe. Alternatively, one could say that his side had effectively already lost.

But scoring a run a ball 20 etc. is not that bad. After all batsmen only have to make one mistake and they're out. You also have to remember that those coming in as middle order hitters don't really get a sighter. It may be loaded against the bowlers but they can follow a six ball with a wicket ball, sometimes a rank ball that the batsman slogged to a fielder.

And would Warne be in for his batting? BTW his team looks devoid of talent.

The proposed venue for this tournament is wait for it England!
I thought it was already officially happening and in India with the top 2 from England, India, Australia and South Africa at that time?

I was looking forward to the tournament and now see its not even offical yet?

Anyway, anyone watching tonights first match? We get it on delay here, about to start now but I notice the overpaid slogger struggled along to 32 off 39 balls and was wondering how the hell could someone bat so slowly in a T20 match? Definately not earning his pay

Dodgy pitch and floodlight failures, typical BCCI.

Well those crazy Knight Riders have done it again, notching up another win against the highly fancied Chargers, despite being forced to bat last on a shocking pitch and in semi darkness. No heroics from McCullum this time though, he may now be in danger of losing that stylish orange cap he recieved for being the leading run scorer.

I will be supporting the Bangalore Royal Challengers because they have Steyn, Bracken and Zaheer Khan and the Kolkata Knight Riders as they have Gayle and McCullum.
