Plenty of all-rounders on their books, they just aren't very good. Thakor (gone backwards), Taylor (seem loath to play him in CC), Raine (potential at last), Wells (too young).
Also seems to be the Leics way to play 'up and coming' all-rounders and then barely bowl them.

You've got to love wikipedia. I'm obviously supporting the wrong Leicestershire if the capacity is 12000-13000. I only ever go to to the ground with a 4000 capacity and crowds of a few hundred.

Apparently Dickie Bird was claiming during the last match that Sayers would become Leics captain. Just putting that out there.

It'd be a fun day out to see Sayers and Boycey batting together.

Cobb would be ideal for Warwickshire

It says drunk and disorderly and makes no reference to drugs.

It would be disappointing to see Eckersley leave but not Cobb, him and a few others are always partying and messing around with girls, not a bad thing if you back it up with some decent performances. I'd be happy to see a few of the current squad leave and we bring in some more experienced able players. Hopefully with Phil Whitticase no longer coach, our recruiting will be a lot better then it has for the last 4/5 seasons.

My hope was that with Wayne White gone the boozing might ease off. Unfortunately we have a number of youngsters who think they have made it when they clearly haven't.
Let's just hope we've finally reached rock bottom, surely it can't get any worse? Can it?

A whole season without winning a single Championship game, doesn't get any worse then that mate.

Bring back the Kolpaks!

(I'm only half joking, it's not that hard to link the end of Kolpaks and introduction of young player incentives, to dressing rooms filled with youngsters who have advanced above their station)

We lost to Bradford UCCE, all time low...then finish the season without a win, lower.....then find out that 2 of the players have been done for d&d. This must be the start of the upward march!!
Our problem with the Kolpaks was that we slammed the brakes on too quickly. Granted we had too many, but getting rid of Ackerman was a massive boob. Although hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Ned Eckersley is staying on at Leicestershire.

He's going to a cricket academy in Australia for five months this winter. Unlike with Ross Whiteley at Derbyshire, they're not going to fire him for going there.

I'd be surprised to see Ned here next season even though he's said he wants to stay. He'd be a cheap quality signing for a Div 1 team and he's definitely got the ability to score runs at that level. In other news, Ben Raine has signed up for the 2014 season after putting in some decent performances during the second half of last season.

Yep, Ned's definitely got the ability for Div 1 but with recent misdemeanors next year may be the time for him to get his head down and prove he can do it in all formats before swanning off to Middlesex or Notts. Chris Read must be due to retire soon and as we are Notts feeder club I bet he's on their radar.

I thought Ned had more or less packed in wicket-keeping - he didn't really want to do it and wanted to concentrate on batting. He didn't keep much/at all this year, right?

I think they have offered David Sales a two year deal again.

I'd be delighted if we do, would add a lot of steel (pardon the pun) to a very weak batting line up.

Nobby was definitely number one keeper but Ned was certainly back up when he was away with Ireland. To be honest though his keeping leaves a lot to be desired.

I think we'll still be offering Sales a two year contract when he's 50.
