Derbyshire

the ever popular thread can resume here i'm not expecting to much as ever, particularly after the hash we made with Diva and Steffan Jones.

team for the championship:

Stubbings
Weston
Katich
Taylor
Birt
Harvey
Botha
Pipe
Wagg
Hunter
White

no Welch for the season, which is a huge loss while youngsters like Borrington, Needham and others should all get a fair share of cricket.

also watch out for Irish star Boyd Rankin

my favourites Hasan Adnan and Andy Gray are still bloody there to!!

I'd have thought hopes would be reasonably high? Losing Jones was a blow because with him the bowling would have been at its strongest for years. But Weston, Kaitch and Harvey are good signings. Look at that batting; it goes right down, even Hunter is often good for a handy 20.

I thought Andy Gray was released last year? Katich can bowl slow left arm chinamen - he has around 80 first class wickets and 12 Test wickets, so I hope Derbyshire make use of this.

Don't forget Simon Cusden as well.

we've certainly got a decent squad this year but the bowling is rally lacking a strike a bowler particularly with the loss of Jones and Welch but hopefully some of the young guys can step up.

The only issue is the crazy goings on behind the scenes and i think you are right Gray.

I hope Weston and Harvey both do well for you this year. They are top-draw signings and I wish they were still with us.

Basically the way Di Venuto and Jones were poorly treated.

I know about Di Venuto, but how was Steffan Jones wronged?

Yes! Well, sort of. Monty took 71 wickets, but only 43 of them were for Northants.

There was a massive gap between Steffan and the rest of the Derbyshire bowlers- he took 59 wickets, while Welch and Hunter were next with 36 each.

Northants' highest wicket taker was Nicholson (46), but Monty was close (43) and Jason Brown and Ben Phillips not too far behind (35 and 34).

Anyway, what did Derbyshire do to Steffan?

exacly we will miss him big time.

They wouldn't offer him a two year deal and wanted him to take a pay cut he was willing to stay by the sounds of it but we tried to rip him off

Fair play to Steffan seems he had an outstanding season for Derbyshire. Shame I never saw him perform like that.

Where has he gone now??

Katich, Harvey and Birt how does that work?

Is Botha England qualified or just a Kolpak?

He obviously felt it was all too easy bowling on your wickets
