Think you could well be right.

I just couldn't resist with my comment and having a poke!

UPDATE FROM THE PARKS04/04/07

The Bears started on time at The Parks this morning, Jim Troughton won the toss and elected to bat first.
The scorecard at lunch was 89-3 :

Ian Westwood 9
Navdeep Poonia 7
Jonathan Trott 34*
Jim Troughton 20
Alex Loudon 3*

Mark Greatbatch said, “It is great to get some outdoor practise so early in April. The surface is a good one and we’ll be looking to get the batters some time at the crease!”

There are a splattering of spectators who are supporting the team at The Parks including Alan Smith, former Warwickshire CCC Chief Executive, who is now the President of Oxford University Cricket Club.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh dear. Not the start we had in mind...

At least Trott's keepin his pre-season form going.

Indeed - but the scorecard at the close of play, after 96 overs, was 369-7:

Ian Westwood 9
Navdeep Poonia 7
Jonathan Trott 136
Jim Troughton 20
Alex Loudon 14
Luke Parker 83
Nick James 11
Tim Groenewald 51*
Michael Barnes 8*

A few early, but sadly predictable failures, and some very good performances too. Not a bad day - at least the lemmings restrained themselves

Good recovery, shame Parker didn't get a century but nice lower order runs from Groenewald, let's hope he can prove his all-round abilities tomorrow

Wonder when the "big guns" are going to be rolled out; Maddy, Giles et al?

Plus, are we going to have a forum party when Jackmack's post tally reaches his age, he's on 12 at them moment? 3 to go!

Morning all this fine day !

By the way - the ones with predictable lemming like qualities were indeed getting some practice in. Lets hope our batting has some bo$$o*ks this year

Ian Westwood 9

Hmmm........ I'm afraid oppotunities may be limited if the coach refrains from his crop rotational system to keep everyone happy apart from the supporter.

Any thoughts on the implication of Ian’s dismissal last night ?

Having only briefly seen it, I would think there would be a lot of fielding captains in big matches asking for the video replay ref to inspect possible run out decisions from all angles. Who knows they might get lucky…

Very unlucky for Ian and a disappointing result – so near yet so far

It's about as unlucky as you can get. Your bat goes down, but at the moment the bails dislodge it "bounces" back up under impact of hitting the ground hard.

It happens though. My gripe is more to do with the two chuckers the Sri Lankans' have among their ranks...anyway that's for another forum.

Wasn't Giles in the MCC's squad to face Sussex aswell?

Bell was really unluckly but why was it called in the first place because at first glance from the umpire's view it looked like he was definitely home. I thought the 3rd umpire was to check when umpires weren't sure at all and not for every appeal. Also, did it actually hit Jayasuria because I couldn't tell.

Prob should be for another forum but never mind. Twenty20 tickets go on sale 11th April according to the final reminder letter my Dad recieved today. Why do they put them up when I'm on holiday?

T20 - the greatest show on earth :-)

But how come those who haven't paid get to know about the release date of the golden tickets and those who have don't ?

Povey's way of encouraging members to pay up sharpish and balancing out the extra 25 quid charge with prospects of 20:20 tickets in 6 days.

Quite disappointed with the lack of info given about the friendly - only sessionly updates and only the bare figures given. Still, not long till lunch....

Right out of the MPT book of analysing the Povey methodology.

Anyway:

At lunch on the second day, Oxford have reached 70 for 3 with two wickets for Stuart Hole and one for Tim Groenewald.

I hope we don't get into the 'hole' of giving everyone a go this season to keep them all happy using the crop rotational system. A core group of players have to step to the plate this season with bat and or ball

Anyway at least our first game ended in victory.

Warwickshire 369-7
Oxford Uni 211 AO (Darren Bradshaw for the University making a century)

Anyone going on Tuesday against Gloucs at Edgbaston ?

Great, trying to log into my Edgbaston "eticketing" account and all I get is "You are not authorised to login, you do not have the necessary clients"

Heaven knows what "clients" I require?

On a positive not, my membership card has arrived!
