There seem to have been a lot of scrambled brains with these day night matches. Teams overthinking things most likely. I guess England asked for Buttler to have as much batting opportunity as possible hence why he batted so far up though I'd be very concerned if they are considering him for selection.

Yet more runs for Gary Ballance - an unbeaten fifty against SA is a perfect warm up for the tests.

It wasn't unbeaten he was out for 56. Decent score but if you were being critical he scored nearly half his runs of J P Duminy.

Tom Curran 2 overs, 2 wickets and no runs conceded against Somerset today in the hit and giggle. How many times have bowlers managed back-to-back maidens in T20s, I wonder?

Duckett's form has started to improve again. Hundreds in consecutive CC games and started T20 strongly.

Watched Livingstone with interest last night. He's very cross-batted - a lot of his shots seem to be playing with an almost horizontal swipe of the bat. Very strong leg side preference too as a result. I'd imagine such a technique being exposed in international cricket, even in T20, so perhaps not a player to get too excited about.

Unbeaten hundred in the T20 for Denly last night. Already past 1000 FC runs this summer, he's in his prime right now and must be in contention for an England place.

Hameed gone early at Hampshire.

Adam Lyth surviving as all around him crumble for Yorkshire (50-6).

A fifty? Is that enough for a woody? Can't quite remember what that is wickets wise, think four plus a fifty.

Harsh on TRJ but as we are preparing for the first day night Ashes game he plays at Trent Bridge for me. Rotate Broad, Anderson and maybe Stokes in the second and third tests.

Hameed 15 as well.

Also Joe Clarke 32.

Not a good day for English batting.
