No, we're not getting excited, but given Bell's recent form and his apparent state of mind at the end of the Ashes, it's good to see him spending some time in the middle; this match was his only opportunity before the tour.

Got out twice when well set. His dismissal in the first innings in particular will do nothing to advance his claims.

Well at least one England batsman is in form.

115* from 66 balls.

Shame there's no room in any of our squads for him though.

I don't think it's room that is the problem.

Yes, it is. Bopara has long since been dropped in every format by England. Chris Jordan merits discussion here simply by dint of England's ongoing interest in him, regardless of your opinion of his merits.

Plus Jordan is probably a better batsman, bowler, fielder and super-over specialist.

I'll give you better fielder.

That super over was a fluke. His previous over was rank - three full tosses, one of which should have been no-balled.

A fluke? In Twenty20? Surely not.

Didn't see it but it sounded highly unusual.

I didn't realise this thread was only for the discussion of players who are the subject of "ongoing interest" by England, by the way.

Ravi Bopara has the best economy-rate in the BPL.

I know it's only the BPL, but it's better than Amir, Shakib, Kulasekera, Yasir Shah, Narine, Sammy etc

He is England's best pace off the ball bowler in limited overs cricket.

Just to keep you all in the loop. This is the stuff you will read in his autobiography in 15 years as the winter that developed him into the world class cricketer he became. http://waca.com.au/other/news_detail.php?ID=4365

His bowling is pretty ropey imo so the standard must be excellent

3 English players on show in the Big Bash today - Rashid, Carberry and Willey. Decent figures for Adil: 4-0-21-2.

Not so great for the other two with the bat although Willey has at least picked up a wicket in the chase.

With the T20 World Cup round the corner there's an Englishman Man of the Match in the Big Bash Semi Final.
