Didn't Simon Jones make his debut under Fletcher?

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/con...ds/283460.html

The only England player on this list was Paul Nixon (1).

Hard to believe these players were tried at their ages, most of them when 20/20s first started though.
38 - Dravid (1)
36 - Atapattu (2), Jayasuriya (31), Inzi (1)
35 - Hogg (15), McGrath (2)

Jayasuriya went on to play for 5 more years.
Even though Hogg had a good 20/20 record he couldn't transfer that to internationals. Last played in March 14. Australia still looking for that spinner. Lyon, good 20/20 record but only played in 1 international but can't bat. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...type=b owling

England's oldest player now is Plunkett (30) and he has only played three 20/20s.

All the youngest teams apart from England are second string or developing nations.

We'll come nowhere and it will be blamed on lack of experience.

True.

It will be said that England players need to play more IPL and Big Bash while the standard in the T20 Blast I think is much higher. What England 20/20 players are lacking is their experience of playing in different countries and different wickets.

Surely the ECB and their acolytes in the media won't have the temerity to argue that when England have left at home their players with IPL and Big Bash experience when they are in great form.

Indeed. If England don't win the tournament no one, regardless of the intimacy or distance of their connection to Andrew Strauss, will be able to avoid the obvious conclusion that England only failed to win because they failed to include Bopara and Pietersen in their team.

I always thought Shah should have had a longer England career in the shortest form of the game.

No need to worry. Eoin Morgan reckons that the players' lack of experience in India could be an advantage.

Did you expect him to concede defeat and say "we're really screwed because none of our players have played here before"?

Still can't believe James Hildreth hasn;t got near the full team, after impressing consistently for Somerset and also England A

He certainly did well for the Lions, 8 matches 56.81 and I think was captain. Selected after a 61.33 season. Then inconsistent ..

2011 38.30
2012 52.78
2013 34.75
2014 35.12

Last two years

Often think I'd like to bring Hildreth in the side given our paucity of class options in the top/middle order. Still young enough to stick around for a couple of years and giving thirty-somethings debuts tends to go alright for the Aussies. Think he struggles to shake of the tag of Ian Bell mkII in some people's eyes - although what I'd give for a player to have a career test average above 40 in this line-up now.
