Has anyone seen much of Briggs? Does he have the potential to make it to being a good international player?
He's obviously still very young and his FC stats aren't great, but he was leading wicket taker for the lions on the tour to bangladesh last year and has brilliant figures again on this tour to date.

West Indian batsmen are atrocious against spin.

Yeah, I think they made Briggs look better than he really is....

The first round starts in earnest tomorrow, with the Lions playing the Leewards, who had a terrible run in the just-concluded 20/20 tournament.

Is Plunkett going back to the Lions after the 7th ODI?

For a teenager his slow left arm looked to have some good potential in the T20 games I saw. I'd say he'll end up batting around #9.

His T20 record is obscenely good really. Not many young spinners (or older ones for that matter!) have records as good as that. Loads of wickets with an economy of under 6.5 is a top effort.

His FC stats aren't outstanding but for someone of his age they're perfectly ok and will only get better. Agree with Slater about his batting. Definitely has some FC 50s in him and can hopefully bat around 9 and average 15-18 or so. He'll play for England at some stage.

Cricinfo scorecard hasn't been updated yet.

LI XI: Liburd (cpt), Thomas, Burton (on debut), Powell, Baker, Martin, Athanaze, Banks, Walters, Hodge, Taylor, Tonge, Willett

Lions XI: Hildreth (cpt), Adams, Bopara, Briggs, Dernbach, Harris, Keiswetter, Lyth, Stokes, Taylor, Buck

Presumably not in batting order! England won the toss & elected to bat. Adam Lyth and Jimmy Adams opened the batting, the score is 23/0 after 8 Overs. Rain has affected some of the other games.

England lose their first wicket @ 36, Martin gets Adams LBW. Bopara joins Lyth at the crease.

Rain has interrupted this game also. An early Tea has been taken.

Tea, Day 1. England Lions 168/3

Adam Lyth 55
Jimmy Adams 5
Ravi Bopara 45
James Hildreth 34*
James Taylor 21*

Run rate is around three an over.

Thanks Slater. Let's hope Jimmy T and Jimmy H can hit a score or two.

They certainly did that. Stumps, Day 1.

England Lions 320/3.

Adam Lyth 55
Jimmy Adams 5
Ravi Bopara 45
James Hildreth 126*
James Taylor 78*

Unlike some of the other games, they appear to have got the full 90 overs in. Rain fell around the Tea break. Run rate must have been pretty high in the final session, the guy on Twitter reckons this is a flat pitch.

Given the poor standard of batting in the longer form of the game in Caribbean domestic cricket, I expect the Leewards to find the pitch to be anything but flat when it's their turn to bat....

Wickets have been tumbling in the Jamaica-Guyana and Windwards-CCC games.
