Lou Vincent has blabbed!

He has told NZ police what went on spot fixing wise over 4 years and named, names as part of a plea bargain. Mal Loye has admitted he was approached and immediately reported it. An unnamed player at lancs has been named by Vincent. He has also released other names involved in four different countries. There are four names that always pop up in gossip on the circuit that may be involved and I'm wondering if these guys will be named in evidence. For Vincent not to go down others will have to be named.

I'm not surprised that Lancashire players might be involved.

Kent winning a game in 2011....I fear the evidence is overwhelming.

Doesn't look good at all. There's got to be a lot of players who're willing to take more than a seasons wages to throw one game.

Have no idea how though how the player who refused to throw the game didn't lay vincent out immediately after the game.

Very bad news. Hobbits are supposed to be the most incorruptible of fellows, so if the bookies have got to them its not a good sign.

Either that or Lou Vincent has found the ideal excuse for explaining away years of poor form.

Is this a serious comment or just another of your sour remarks?

He identifies 12 games around the world which involved fixing — three of them in England between 2008 and 2011 — and justifies his involvement by telling the ICC that his county contract with Sussex was ‘only for £22,000’.
Pathetic. There is no justification for fixing.

Was that £22k for a full season?

Besides he would have been able to negotiate a better deal elsewhere. He's an international cricketer FFS. Not a great one granted, but an international all the same.

The article doesn't say. But if he didn't like the terms he shouldn't have signed the contract. And there are surely other perks, sponsorship deals etc.

It explains why he was so shockingly bad for Sussex in certain games. What a ****. There are quite obviously going to be lots of players guilty of this unfortunately.

IIRC he was on a one day contract only. £22k for probably less than two months' work...I wish.

Presumably one of them being able to continue to fix matches and rake in bookies fees?

The whole thing stinks. I only earned 22k. Ffs. Who cares. You were doing a job and getting paid for it. What he did was illegal. Imagine someone in court on a robbery charge. "I was only getting paid 6k a month so I had to commit a crime" judge "oh sorry, I did not realise you were being treated like a slave, case dismissed".

We could all get more money. Some of us chose to do it the legal way.

It makes me very angry.

Me too. He should be spending his next 10 years in jail.

Vincent might do well to avoid travelling by private planes for the next few years.

What's the problem with that? It is the modern way now, inspired by Labour and continued by the Tories. Everyone is a victim these days, nothing is ever anybody's own fault. Any poor decisions are not the fault of the person who made those poor decisions. Fact.

This poor bloke has been badly wronged by his club and XXXX and left with no option but to fix matches. I cannot believe the callousness and of some on here, claiming he should spend 10 years doing porridge. Have some empathy people for christs sake
