Come on Northants, you can do better than that with your conspiracy theories.

Cairns was ICL, so it's clearly the ICL players - which means Brian Charles Lara - whilst the IPL stars will get protected.

So Loye is telling you who is on the take rather than give this info to the Anti Corruption Unit?

Wow you must have more secrets than Max Clifford, what with this and the alleged paedo ring at Derbyshire CCC.

Genuinly gutted if Cairns is guilty, used to love watching him play.

No excuses though if he is found guilty.

What do the Notts fans on here make of this? If Cairns is guilty surely someone will start asking questions about some of the Notts games he played in, especially that last ridiculous hurrah he had with us!

Apparently Chris Cairns's court case starts tomorrow. Potential excrement fan-hitting coming up in due course.

Some pretty damning stories against Mr Cairns judging by the Guardian report I've just read.
The case continues next week ...

At the end the Article mentions someone call Andrew Fitch-Holland, but never says who he is.

It being perjury rather than match fixing.

Didn't seem the likely outcome given the trial coverage.

Cairns was acquitted of perjury and perverting the course of justice. That doesn't necessarily mean he didn't act as an agent or recruiter of those involved in spot-fixing.

Cripes. You mean it's that complicated? So how are we supposed to know whether he's evil or not?

Since he admits himself his reputation is scorched, Cairns is damaged goods coming out of this trial. I have not been following it closely, I will confess, but this has been dragging on for years.

Cairns has admitted to discussing spread betting with McCullum, hasn't he? Why would he be doing that? It is so important that professional cricketers are not involved with companies engaged in gambling and betting circles. That is the legalised betting world, let alone the illegal bookies of the sub-continent.

The whole fantasy football and baseball industries are coming under scrutiny in the US right now, because there is so much money involved and the leagues themselves have bought in to the companies to get a piece of the action. The slightly cynical suspicion is that the governments are balking because they are not tapping into the revenues to the level with which they are comfortable.

That's mainly because fantasy sports is basically a way of getting round the ban on gambling.

The Cairns verdict was only a majority verdict, so at least some of the jury believed that he had been proved guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
