The problem as I see it is that we have lots of good players but very few with the x-factor. Many who excel in county cricket and will do well against weaker Test nations, or India at home but not many who can step up against the likes of South Africa and Australia in particular. This seems to be the case in both batting and bowling.
I have said that I think he will be a brilliant county player but not quite test quality. I would be happy with that but he is quite sharp 86-87 I reckon but Jamie o is fast and tall.

If we can get Jamie O, Craig O and Gregory fit then people won't fancy our attack much. All okay with bat too.

I've seen Jamie O and would love to see England develop him. He's got the raw attributes and I love watching him bat, just as a tail ender should do!! If he is handled the right way you'll see little of him at Taunton.

I would like to see both Overtans in ODI cricket now. Yes there raw but the World Cup is four years away. Get them playing international cricket so they can develop.

Do they spend a lot of time on sunbeds?

Booooooo!

Jason Roy dismisses Napier for 73.

With Dernbach out injured, Roy actually has the best fc bowling average in the Surrey line-up.

Are Surrey out to prove that bowlers win (or actually don't) matches but batsmen decide by how much?

Ansari has just run himself out as well. Celebrating that call up in style.

He should fit right in if his running between wickets is a bit dicey.

Good enough.

I see Overton J bowl four wild but fast overs at TB a few years back. Fast and wild enough to warrant am England call (which was actually based on him bowling well in a televised county game earlier in the season as that's the only way our selectors can choose county talent).

If he does recover after being near-ruined by Saker,it would be a good piece of PR for the minor counties

Somerset aren't really a minor county.

Jove is taking a shorter run up this season and is more controlled without losing speed, but still has some way to go - and the years to do it in. Broke down last night with a heel problem, to be evaluated this morning

Yes, saw him playing for Devon when they played Dorset. Felt for the Dorset batsmen cos he was far too good for minor counties cricket!

So Moeen was sent back to New Road for some match practice. So far 8 wicketless overs (bowling second fiddle to Senanayake) and one whole run.
