They've already announced it Aidan. However, they just haven't bothered to communicate it to those "outside cricket".

The final place appears to be between Jordan and Wood, as expected. Nobody dropped despite the shocking performance in Barbados.

Still no Rashid in the group - what if it's a turning pitch ?

Jumped before pushed.

Then Moeen will dominate like he did when he destroyed India.

Unlikely, especially in May.

He'd get left out.

I would imagine there's also the option of playing both Jordan and Wood and leaving Stokes out.

I wonder if the Mumbai Indians waited until England had picked their squad before announcing Hales is to play for them

I heard it about 15 minutes before the test squad announcement.

We get to look forward to seeing Moeen getting slapped around for 4 an over and Root getting preferred at crucial stages, stupid!

Moeen Ali.

Not a test quality player but he doesn't rock the dressing room.

Hales would have been told earlier on his status. Even if he wasn't told by the selectors, he could ask any of the other players Broad what was the makeup of the squad.

If Moeen fails then England will go into the Ashes with a untested spinner or an out of form batting all rounder.

If he succeeds again then we will have a proven test spinner ready to hammer the aussies.

Is Woakes injured or just out of favour? Wood probably carrying the drinks and thank god not Rashid again. Lyth, Stokes and Jordan are the guys who are being asked the questions. Mo has to do something with either bat or ball. All in all that's probably the right choice. It's Lords in May and even some of the best spinners we have had since the days of uncovered pitches, haven't done a right lot there until late June. Wish they would leave the selection until closer the date. It was ****ing it down in Bedfordshire this morning but a great warm afternoon. Nything like that for the next couple of days and Jimmy could have a field day. So could Southee and Boult though.
