I would argue that Ali needs to play first class instead of ODI or otherwise perhaps Tredwell should come back.

I'd be happy to argue that Tredwell is a better ODI bowler anyways.

Treadwell should be an automatic choice but his face doesn't fit for some reason. Broad, Anderson and Bell shouldn't be in the ODI squad but expect them to be there.

Hmmm, not sure about Wood being in the squad after two back to back tests but wouldn't know who else you'd pick.

My understanding from a reliable journo is that Anderson, Broad & Bell were told by Strauss last month that as England were looking to the future, they were unlikely to play another ODI for England.

And in the case of the bowlers, looking to prolonging their own careers as England players.

England pinch Rashid and Plunkett. Can't see either of them playing. Rashid selection a mystery.

Ah yes, the chap who was told personally by Geoff Cook that Mark Wood was no good and that they were looking to move him on.

I might use that post as my screensaver.

Rashid is is the only spinner so I imagine he'll play.

They have to pick a spinner and are a bit embarrassed about taking him to West Indies.

When he gets tonked round the park, they'll be able to claim they were right all along.

No Vince which is a bit of a surprise. Would have liked to have Bairstow in the squad. Think that Plunkett is more suited to Test cricket, I would have picked Bresnan instead.

My XI from the squad:

Hales
Roy
Taylor
Root
Morgan
Stokes
Buttler
Rashid
Jordan
Wood
Finn

Quite possibly but Ali is a much better opener. He's got pretty good utility as an ODI player, whatever you might feel about his value as a test spinner and batsman.

He's more useful in ODI cricket than Test cricket.

Bizarre decision IMO. Even if he isn't opening, he seems like a good option in ODIs, certainly when Rashid is the only spin bowler in the squad. The rest of the squad seems alright.
