Starting to warm to Smudge as a Captain. He should reign Starc in a bit. It's fair enough to throw at the stumps if the batsmen is out of his crease, not throw at the batsmen from frustration when you're bowling pies though (and giving 4 overthrows in the process).

He certainly didn't try to hide his disappointment on field either when we were trying to bowl NZ out, with our bowlers going over after monotonous over without making them play a shot (particularly Starc). He seems far more animated than most Captains.

There was no apology heard from Starc after the incident or at the handshakes after the game. Australian captain Smith found it pretty disappointing.

In his press conference, Smith said that it is not a healthy sign for the fast bowler. This is not the first time he has done it. Smith said that he will definitely talk with the pace bowler in the sheds.

I'm aware that Starc has never really come to the party in test matches, and I note that you point out that the likes of Cummins and Pattinson are on the treatment table too often but he's still a serious talent. It is almost like the Michael Bevan situation but for bowling. I guess the main difference apart form that is that there was always a stack load of high class batsmen playing at the time in Bevan's era and not injured.

Another absolute spanking on the cards for the Black Caps already in this test. Warner gets his third back-to-back century. Class player, coming across from t20 to dominate like this in tests.

15 centuries and 19 fifties in 84 innings (a fifty every 2.47 innings), opening the batting, is just absurdly consistent for a batsman who plays the way he does. Admittedly he's more dominant at home (11 centuries in 23 games at home, 4 centuries in 22 games outside Aus) but still averages over 40 outside Aus, which is perfectly decent.

But what has happened to NZ? I know Aus conditions don't suit their bowlers particularly but still, there's a lack of fight, Williamson apart, that belies their performances over the last few years.

Don't worry about losing the Ashes boys we'll prepare flat roads for you here with every 50/50 decision going your way.

And Aussies have the temerity to complain about the pitches in England or NZ not suiting them because there is too much seam and swing for their flat track bully batsmen to handle.

Every pitch in Australia is as flat as the Nullabor these days, got to ensure the tests last 5 days and maximise revenue for CA.

Who cares if it makes test cricket as boring as batshit, how good is Warner?

Until they go overseas again and encounter seam and swing and pitches that aren't concrete roads.

Yeah there is that. But don't let the Aussie commentators hear you say that. Oz are the best.

Not sure about class, but he uses what he has very effectively. Very much like Sehwag, he can make a flat track a result one by scoring so many runs so quickly.

Somewhere in America Hayden and Lara will be waking up worried that their claim to fame on the cricket circus TV blurb will be ruined.

380 and 400* must be under threat.

He use to be good.

I'd rate Sehwag highly. Yes, he struggled in seaming conditions but the ability to take the game away from an opponent at the rate they do is critical when trying to win matches on flat decks.

Outstanding performance, Warner and Khwaja are just run machines at the moment. As is KP.

Wonder if Smudger has said "We're not going beyond 650, Dave."
