Cricket all stars.

Sorry about the new thread. Did anyone else watch that? I did and I feel dirty. Curtly Ambrose (the best fast bowler I have seen) was bowling at a pace that would have made Ian Austin blush and was swept for six.

I loved watching the Rawalpindi express running in even though he was bowling relatively slowly.

We took the cricket for granted ten years ago but there were some brilliant players. Maybe I am turning into my dad and thinking thinks used to be better or maybe they just were.

I can't believe I have just seen curtly swept for six.

My sister played in a team with Curtley two years ago, He spent all innings at slip and declined to bowl. Maybe he knew.

Your favorite cricketer was looking very portly. Was good seeing Wasim bowling after a long time.

Is this the one they were doing at Yankee Stadium? Did it work on their field?

It just about worked but occasionally a flick went for six when it should have been out. It was funny when wasim said about 45k people watching and the camera zoomed round the stadium which was 1/3rd full if I am bring generous.

Wasn't there huge swathes of sand on the outfield?

There was, apparently clay, which stuck to the footwear. Not surprisingly, the years seem to be kinder on the batsmen than on bowlers.

The diamonds on baseball pitches usually made from clay, easier to run and slide on than grass.

Which player is the most exciting to watch in the Cricket All-Stars series?
RESULTS
Jonty Rhodes - 3.31% 513
Ricky Ponting - 2.27% 352
Sachin Tendulkar- 7.58% 1173
Shane Warne - 2.95% 457
Shoaib Akhtar - 36.92% 5716
Virender Sehwag - 12.21% 1890
Wasim Akram - 15.86% 2456
They all are - 18.90% 2927
Total votes: 15484

Definitely Akhtar. He still had the ability to have the batsmen hopping around the crease. Then Wasim with his slow yorkers.

Wonder why Vaughan is in the squad, he wasn't even a good ODI player.

Flintoff must have been busy whoring himself elsewhere.

Money? Publicity? Not realising he was rubbish at ODI?

Just watched saqlain bowl. I reckon he would still get incand be the number one spinner in a fair few of the current international sides. Bowled a great delivery to get sachin out today.

Warne still looks amazing bowling a few overs but couldn't bowl long spells, let alone several spells a day.

He is still somehow officially only 39 years old. He was moving around like a 50 year old when he was at Sussex about 5 years ago.

Had to laugh at how easy Sangakkara must have found it, having not long finished.

Warne looks a lot more athletic now than he ever did. I wonder how much of that is the effects of the surgeons knife though!

I always cringe at the ex-footballer matches they've shown on TV in the past, for two reasons mainly.

One is that they pick players who aren't really in the same class as others, the other is kinda related because they pick a mix of players who are recently retired and long retired.

There needs to be a "level playing field" in that the players should have X caps for whatever they are representing, so if Liverpool than have played for them over say 75 times, likewise the country although that looks less of an issue by the names listed, but also the players should be at least let's say 45.

I'd love to watch the likes of Botham, Imran, Wasim, Richards et al play, but needs to be even terms for all players. Same number of pounds put on, same number of years (roughly) toil taken on their bodies etc.

They're charity or fun games. For the life of me I can't understand why you want to complicate them.
