Poor from Bairstow as well. All these England batsmen looking comfortable then just get out to a nothing shot. Do they have no powers of concentration?

As I said to Ali. Was the LbW lucky? Of course it was. It would have been unlucky had it not been given. It is like saying someone who wins on a red/black spin on roulette was not lucky.

Not allowed to concentrate. You get slated for that.

88-5 is a very poor effort from England in good batting conditions, although Morkel has bowled well. This is 50-75 runs short of a competitive score and South Africa are well placed to build a match winning first innings lead. The only good news for England is Steyn's (lack of) fitness.

No, it really isn't.

I'm willing to forgive Cook, Mo and Woakes who all got good balls early on. The rest, Compton included, should be disgusted with themselves for getting out needlessly after only doing half a job.

It is about a fifty fifty chance. Some you win and some you don't. He obviously had to get the ball thee but then out of his hands.

I agree with this. Some crap dismissals while the three you said got good balls early but woakes should be hitting it. Cook should probably leave his but Moeen got the perfect delivery. Not that jock will acknowledge this.

Shot of the match so far!

I'm with Ali on this. When you get yourself in, it is criminal to get yourself out carelessly. We spent a couple of years on 247 being critical of Bell for doing this so often in the 2007-9 period and lo and behold he went on a poor run and got dropped. That was as a result of not cashing in when he was in form. Some of these guys will get out early on in innings and then may regret not getting the runs while the going was good.

He must be the most unlucky cricketer of 2015.

This is why most of our batsman average under 35. In fact many under 30! It's the way they play though so that is fine.

2015 ? No there are 3 days left.

Averaging 24 with the bat , 45 with the ball and. Best bowling of 3/51.

Very unlucky.

Quite, if you think about all the batsmen given a chance in the Cook era, they have combined for very few centuries:

Root 8
Ballance 4
Stokes 2
Compton 2
Robson 1
Lyth 1
Ali 1
Buttler, Bairstow, Taylor, Carberry 0.

I was talking about this dismissal. Until there is a better spin bowling option then he stays. Was saw what a shambles rashid's bowling was when Moeen out bowled him in all but 2 or three of about 20 innings in all forms of cricket. I don't think Moeen is a world beater just that he is the best we have.

Maybe it's because they are dropped if they average 47 because of the way they play?

Morne appears to be tiring but there are no batsmen left to take advantage.

He's a passenger. Immune from wider criticism despite awful stats.
