Cook nibbles at one, bad start already.

Very poor shot from Cook - that was a nothing ball. After having felt quite positive leading into this series the pessimism is already taking hold.

Sadly we won't get to see Compton-Cook in this innings.

cricinfo just now had Root being at the crease so obviously they don't think Compton is going to be at the crease long.

PS it seems as though Sky haven't actually sent their own crew and that the usual SA commentators and English ones such as Athers and Bumble will be sharing the same feed.

Cook can't even bear to be batting at the same time as Compton.

We never had this problem with Pietersen.

Steyn appears to be warming to his task. Compton lucky to survive just now with the ball not carrying to slip. Hales looks to be playing with a nice straight bat, which has not always been the case.

Poor shot from Hales and entirely predictable.

Goodness me. Cook nibbled at one he could have left but was close enough to justify the shot but hales? Wow. A nice airy drive against the best bowler in the world on a swinging and seaming pitch. Wtf was that?
