There's a lot of Broad on the board. He would be my pick too. I'd be inclined to agree with ea09 about it not happening that soon, if I didn't know just how fragile England players tend to be. If England can get through this series with no more injuries though, enough bowlers ought to return to fitness for there not to be much need for debutants, unless Rashid plays in Sri Lanka. It's rather an interesting question, I think. I doubt there will be a new batsman in the side because Shah should keep his position as first reserve, Tres might come into the reckoning and anyway, there's a surfeit of batsmen. There are also plenty of reserve fast bowlers who have played test cricket, some fitter than others. We have Hoggard, Anderson, Flintoff, Jones and Mahmood all potentially available by the latter stages of the India series in addition to the three incumbents.

Brilliant question! And dovetails neatly with the Gilo thread. Can Moores dip into his knowledge of county cricket and come up with a left-field spinning pick that confounds us all?

Well, probably not. But it's still the most likely source for our next debutant.

If no-one has done it by next summer then the next wave of seamers ought to come into contention. If the likes of Broad or Tremlett play before that we really will have an injury crisis.

It will be an interesting test of Moores.
If there was one thing Fletcher was good at it was spotting the (Test) diamonds in the County rough.

I wonder which will happen an England debutant or an England player leaving the one test wonder club? To put this in perspective is Lewis more likely to play a test match before Broad?

Could go one of two ways. Experienced cover of blood the future. Would make sense to go for the experienced cover. Probably pick GoJo......

If it was just a one-test type injury, Nixon would be the obvious choice as he has played with England recently. He would get his one test cap and retire happy. Problems would arise if the one-test-injury was prolonged and a different solution was needed.

GoJo is making noises about getting on the winter tour on the back of his recent century.

Had not seen that. I would favour taking one keeper. I bet there are few non internationals.

Highly unlikely that Lewis will play before Broad.

They looked around for bowlers not injured to play in the Lions match and Tremlett got a chance. It was touch and go between Broad and Tremlett.

So Tremlett was the Next England Debutant.

Davies I expect.

Prior is a stop-gap really.

Also, Solanki must be up there. Possibly Bopara.

Also, I think a few people might be inline for recalls like Sidebottom - the names Batty, Ali and Ramps come to mind.

(Batty on fire today - running throught the much hyped Surrey batting.)

Not a bad shout. If he thinks the Surrey batting line-up is much hyped then he probably is a figure whose best was 5-10 years ago.
