Brad would ge a good name. He should change the surname as well, maybe something like Brad Hodgeson.

Well I think Steve Warne or Shane Waugh would be the perfect Aussie cricket names. You would be virtually guaranteed selection in the Aussie team with either of those monikers.

Australia could put together a decent XI of Brads, Bretts and Shanes. It'd beat Zimbabwe.

Tsk - such an old fashioned view Greatbatch. Don't you know Future Australian Players will have names like Cameron, Cullen, Chadd, Ryan and Nathan?

Soon it will be like the AFL: Bryce, Mitchell, Clayton, Jarryd, Kyle, Clint, Brock, Tyson, Calib, etc. Nary a Barry, Wayne or Craig in sight...

Hassan is the Welsh lad isn't he? Playing slightly above his age group?

He's a spinner isn't he? Finger or wrist?

Thanks for the links Rey. Yes, slightly ridiculous, but interesting nonetheless.

Dunno, but that Rafiq is a spinner I think, the Yorkshire one that people are raving about. I've only heard of him and Matt Machan

Preparations for the under-19 World Cup are also beginning - this squad that have met up recently excludes those that are playing regular county cricket and there are a series of games against county 2nd XIs in the next week or so.

England squad announced for under-19 World Cup in Malaysia early in 2008:

Alex Wakely (Northamptonshire) Captain
Ben Brown (Sussex) (wk)
Liam Dawson (Hampshire)
Steven Finn (Middlesex)
Billy Godleman (Middlesex)
James Harris (Glamorgan)
James Lee (Yorkshire)
Stuart Meaker (Surrey)
Sam Northeast (Kent)
Daniel Redfern (Derbyshire)
James Taylor (Worcestershire)
Tom Westley (Essex)
Chris Woakes (Warwickshire)
Greg Wood (Yorkshire) (wk)

Looks a pretty decent squad to me.

Bowling looks really weak .. Just Finn and Harris are the ones with any hint of quality and talent about them

nothing new there Daz.

We only produce pace bowlers, and at the moment there isn't any coming through the ranks nor anyone else of considerable talent which is concerning.
