Is Mervyn Westfield injured or do they just not fancy picking him?

I played with him in my U11 District team.

He featured in the Malaysia tri-series last winter....probably injury that's kept him out

Missed the whole season with a stress fracture of the back.

With the under-19 World Cup just a few months away, Pakistan look in top form - they've just beaten Australia 5-0 in a one-day series in Pakistan and all five victories have been comprehensive (7 wkts, 9 wkts, 30 runs, 5 wkts and 9 wkts respectively).

Good start for England in the first Test vs New Zealand at Taunton - big centuries for Redfern and Smith and Liam Dawson currently 76 not out.

Redfern, he's the one who plays for Derby?

Could be a good prospect.

Didn't realise this had started. Two Sussex players playing

Joe Austin-Smellie = best name ever

Agreed

Dawson completed his hundred to make it three in the England innings. NZ 33-4 in reply with Woakes and Saxelby getting two wickets each.

Might pop down to Taunton tomorrow to watch some of this and see Smellie in action

Three players from Notts. :-)

Hales the opener, Luke Fletcher (class) opening the bowling with Woakes and Saxelby on second change as well.

Criminally, Hales hasn't been given a go this season despite our opening woes and despite bowling really well in the FPT Fletcher seems to have disappeared out of sigh. Saxelby has played 0 games for us and apparently is likely to more to Gloucestershire as he's impressing them in his loan spell there. :|

Really pleased to see two Sussex players, Will Beer and Ben Brown, in the starting XI. Both are very exciting young prospects of whom Sussex have great hopes for.

Comprehensive win for England by an innings and 130 runs - Beer and Dawson sharing the ten second innings wickets after the pacemen did most of the damage in the first innings.

Maybe we should have selected this side for Edgbaston.

I guess the Kiwi's were missing Southee who has now graduated to the senior side.

I wouldn't get too excited about the U-19s. Let's just say that Richard Logan was a star bowler in the U-19 Ashes or whatever in 1999...
