Well either way congratulations to the Sri-Lankans but look out next year when Paul Collingwood wins the first individual Spirit of Cricket award and Elliott Test Player of the Year...

And Chris Martin and Monty Panesar open the batting for a World Test XI and put on a record 650 run partnership over two days against Australia, each scoring a memorable triple hundred.

It's going to be a crazy old year.

So were it not for our slow over rate then we might have won the fair play award.

Presumably you've missed out Australia because they have too many to list?

India should clearly win the Spirit of Cricket award. It doesn't say "Good spirit".

He celebrated a West Indian dismissal too vigorously. Didn't actually look too bad, just got over-exuberant.

WeStMiDz in thinking Indian players should be winning stuff shock. Either Siddle or Hilf would be decent choices for emerging player. I'd have to take a really good look at the records for the right periods to decide on the rest though.

Much as it pains me, Strauss should get test cricketer of the year. Emerging players arent very exciting.

Anyone else a tad surprised that Graham Onions has been nominated for two awards?

I don't think Samaraweera should be considered. He's played all his 9 test matches in the last 12 months in Asia.

Does the cricketer of the year category take into account all first class performances? In which case it would make sense. Otherwise he's had a good start to his test career but not such an amazing one that he should be cricketer of the year just based on his test performances to date.
