Nice article about Trott - he sounds very sensible and realistic. I'm predicting this will be a fabulous season for him.

Oh dear, I wish you weren't. He's due a failure, you know.

England is due a failure also, since I don't think we are quite the real deal just yet. It is more enjoyable to be optimistic about the summer, so I think I'll look at the upside potential. At least until the series against SL gets underway, anyhow.

Well done Jonathan Trott. Very well deserved Cricketer of the Year.

Interesting that he gets the nod over Alastair Cook - but then Trott has been more consistent over the whole period, he certainly left Cook in the dust last summer.

Trott also scored lots of runs in one day cricket after Cook went home to help with the lambing.

Excellent point - where was Trott when the lambs of Great Britain needed taking care of? Poncing about in Australia, that's where. These Saffers just don't have the same commitment to their country.

A "tribute' that manages to be vaguely unpleasant and inacurate at the same time.

Are you looking forward to the next tribute to Ian Bell then?

He's definitely got more than two run-scoring shots.

Hes utterly wrong about the anger management and what happened in South Africa as well.

Stephen Brenckley called Trott a "balding, bottom handed shoveller" in his tribute today. Excellent journalism.

Yep, rather an odd assertion that, especially as not that many of his runs even come from cut shots (I give Pringle that he does work to leg a lot).

Having suffered the displeasure of reading what Pringle has written twice, I think he meant to say that Trott has only two run-scoring shots against the spinners.

I see your comment So what is the story around the SA appearance, I hadn't anything about him or Arthur's gestures.
