NOTE: I'm sure there were a lot of records beaten during the Oval test match but I was away and when I came back it was just too much like hard work to check them and update this thread. Sorry. Anyway you can always rely on FBys to come up with something.

James Anderson took his 100th test wicket and Paul Collingwood took his 50th catch. Neither Bell nor Strauss reached their run milestones.

Given that it's better than Giles' effort, then surely it is the best performance since Hick's 5-33?

Thanks. It sounded wrong when I wrote it, I just couldn't think of the right wording. I should have said it's the first time that a spin bowler has taken five wickets in an ODI innings since Ashley Giles's effort in 2001/2.

How many catches was that, again?

Did nobody post about those? I was thinking of other stuff such as some partnership records etc. However, all water under the bridge and they'll all be broken again soon no doubt.

Some fun stats re the 1st ODI v. India.

India's score of 387:
Highest ODI total made by any team in India
Highest total by India against England anywhere
2nd highest total by India against all opposition
Highest total scored against England by any nation

Yuvraj Singh's score of 138 not out from 78 balls:
Highest individual score for India v. England
2nd fastest ODI century by an Indian against anyone
Fastest ODI century by anyone v. England

Most sixes (13) in an innings v. England
Total of 22 in the match was the 2nd highest in a one-day match.

Most boundaries (51) by India in an innings v. anyone.

Paul Collingwood
His 150th ODI and one he may prefer to forget.

19 runs scored matches the 19 taken off his only over bowled. (15 off the bat and 4 lbs)

We played a key part in an Indian record breaking match then.

2nd ODI India v. England Indore 17/11/08

In this match G. Gambhir and MS Dhoni became the first players to pass 1000 ODI runs in the year 2008.

Gambhir: 1065 runs 25 innings

Dhoni: 1009 runs 23 innings

Yuvraj Singh has 824 so who would bet against him joining them during this series?

5th ODI India v. England, Cuttack

In this match Kevin Pietersen passed 3000 runs in ODIs, in his 78th innings. Total now 3047.

He also scored a century and, almost unbelievably, became the first England captain ever to do so in an ODI overseas, or indeed anywhere except in London.

1st test India v. England Chennai 11-15 Dec 2008

Andrew Flintoff's dismissal of Tendulkar gave him his 200th test wicket for England. He has 207 test wickets but 7 of them occurred in the infamous Super Test playing for an ICC XI so don't count as far as Bill Frindall is concerned.

In his 99th innings, same as Atherton and Vaughan, and one innings quicker than David Gower, who achieved the milestone in his 100th innings.
