Saw highlights of the DeGrandhomme century. Brutal stuff. Sadly Windies didnt put up much of a fight in the 2nd test either from what I can see.

It is a reasonable amount of experience of English conditions but it was more the experience of the grind I was referring to over an extended period to groove actions (and whatever the batting equivalent is) and to try different in-match adjustments on the fly with real time results. I don't think they get that when it's spread across 3 seasons and they are flying in and out.

Their bowling was pretty consistent and challenging - perhaps other than Roston Chase who was often a pressure release. Their batting left a reasonable amount to be desired though; it was as if some of their batsmen had never seen a short ball in their lives. I shudder to think how they'd fare in Australia against 150km/h+ short ball barrages when they were so utterly woeful against 135-140km/h bowlers on softer pitches.

I don't rate Nicholls highly at all, but it was a highly mature rebuilding innings from him today (along with Todd Astle) that set the Windies a reasonable total given the flatness of the pitch.

Boult got the ball moving just enough to demolish them though. Great game for NZ, but I can't imagine this is the best XI that the West Indies could put together really.

Disappointed with the Windies. Thought that total was chasable what with a good pitch and a small ground but they made a complete mess of it.
