The problem with intelligent double first standard women at Oxford was that they were intelligent enough to realise immediately that I was an arse.

Not that many Posh Spices in cricket.

Andrew Strauss is married to Ruth McDonald, an aussie actress who performs on the London fringe.

A few married childhood sweethearts - Michael Vaughan married Nichola Shannon, an Irish gal; Trescothick married Hayley Rowse who didn't sleep with Vaughan; and Harmison also married a Hayley (must be catching).

If Ian Bell is high profile sports star who attracts good looking girls, why the heck did he end up with these two?

Mrs. Anderson is a different story.

Not to forget Ashley Giles married Stine who used to work in hotel and Geraint Jones married Jenny who used to work in the canteen at Kent!

Wasn't Mrs Vaughan an accountant at a children's hospital though now she is probably a housewife.

Nah, I'm sure the topic of conversation will take WAGs as its starting-point and drift inexorably onto Bell...

Perhaps it's different when you're a ginger high profile sports star. Although, to be honest, it's hard for me as a female to judge their attractiveness. I can see that Mrs Anderson is very attractive, though.

This board is rapidly going down hill. I blame Essex Cookie for telling us about that Ask.com party.

I am still waiting to see her photos.

Talking of Bell I was looking at Facebook or the other one and was reading that Bell spat at one of his fans.

I have heard rumours that Ian is a little bit too far up his own arse. Doubt he'd spit on someone though.

I probably won't be putting any photos up - most include either my friends or myself...if you want to see you'll have to join facebook!

I heard a story about a how a bloke just looked at Alastair in a club, and that he apparently snapped, ''do you want my autograph or what?''. Don't believe that happened either!

I've had a look at that post you are referring to - it's not true at all. Just typical group banter!

Let's get away from all this negativity about Bell.

Congratulations to Bell for his brilliant batting and consistent performance throughout this series for which he deservedly won the Man of the Series award.

Now England move on to the World 20/20 full of confidence and expectation of doing well in the tournament, but Bell is not in the squad. I have mixed feelings about this. When the squad was initially picked, Bell's ability as a one-day player was still being questioned in some quarters, although he obviously had the confidence of the coach to be included in the India series. Peter Moores told him he wanted him to concentrate on test and 50 over cricket.

Having batted so well and with such a good strike rate, not to mention the MoS award, it now seems ridiculous that he has been omitted, although by his own admission he hasn't had much experience in this form of the game. But leaving out an in form and prolific batsman, and who also plays such a vital part in the field, may be a decision that is now regretted.

On the other hand, Bell has played almost constant international cricket since the summer of 2006, missing only one ODI, the final England World Cup match. I hope he will enjoy the rest and be fresh for Sri Lanka.

Bell has really impressed me during the one day series and he looked set to finish the summer with another big score until Pietersen ran him out. I agree it does seem a bit odd that he won't be in SA but he's earned a break methinks. I'm expecting big things from him this winter - hopefully he'll be able to nail down the number 3 slot in both forms of the game.
