Can't say I'm keen on architecture that tries too hard.

Which station is the nearest to Headingley? Hampshire are playing Yorkshire at the end of April and seeing that I don't live too far from Leeds at the moment I'll probably be making the trip up there for that game.

I think the nearest station is Headingley station... but from memory there's good travel info on the Yorkshire website (I found it OK anyway).

So that's where I left my Rubik's snake.

After losing a two day fixture against Lancs to rain, we've played a nigh-on second XI in the Durham game. I understand giving the younger guys a go, but they've had games in Dubai, and the first XI players need practice too. Goughie has only had a few overs so far, and all that's left is the uni game, which could easily be rained/snowed off.

Don't worry Rey - the way Hampshire are at the moment you shouldn't have too much trouble chalking up a win.

Really really dull write up on Yorkshire on the Beeb site, Alan Partridge couldn't have done a worse job.

Well we've named a first XI for the game tomorrow, but Gough misses out thanks to a back problem. Thanks to the cold weather, he says.....still, doesn't bode well for the rest of the season.

I had severe doubts over his fitness when he came back last year; thankfully I was wrong, and he was out for only a small number of games. Not sure we'll be so lucky this year.

They're all pretty poor.

this fixture is a waste of time. Really just an extended net.

I'd agree with the 'extended net', but that's the same for all friendlies I'd say - the ideal being giving players as much time in the middle, rather than actually winning. Don't think it's a waste of time though; as I said above, we've had several scheduled days rained off, so we needed this.

Not for Vaughan it wasn't.

I'm off to Headingley next week. Will be interesting to actually see Vaughan bat to find out wtf's wrong with him.

He might bat better with a hair band.

I'm tempted to say that if he doesn't bat better, I'll be waiting on the boundary to tan his hide with a hairbrush. (But on the other hand, I'd best keep my sad fantasies to myself! )
