I have to say....a documentary on Viv in Antigua and then Sanga chatting cricket...probably at least as enjoyable as the stuff we're supposed to be watching.

Its the London climate. Believe it not not earlier in the week the groundsman had to put the hovercover on to keep the sun off the pitch.

I went to the second day of the last test against India in 2011. Went down the day before to go to Brookwood cemetery - would’ve been my grandmother’s birthday. Heavens opened as I got there, and I got absolutely soaked trying to find her. Some kind monks lent me a brolly. Wasn’t much play at the Oval. Then the sun shone all the next day as I watched Bell & KP pile on the runs, & England won by an innings. Good times.

Ah well..pity. But let's not be selfish, folks. London needs this rain - the first decent drop since April. There's been plenty of sun-soaked cricket for everyone to enjoy in London since then, so it's not as if we haven't had a good run.

There's probably not going to be any play today. And the wife's roped me into driving to the seaside tomorrow and I'm away at Scarborough on Sunday. Hope Saturday is a good day...

Probably all for the best. We generally lose at Lords. Agree with S o 77. For once I didn't need to water tomatoes, beans, carrots, aubergines etc. First decent drop of rain since April. Got a freezer full of green beans and enough veggies to keep a vegan restaurant in business for 5 years. Anybody want ant chilli sauce? He he he. Thinking of selling it to the military.

Knowing how both teams batted in the last test, I think we have plenty of time to get a result in this test match.

Quite chuffed as a Villa fan though

I reckon if the first day gets washed out they should play the rest of the game with a pink ball and have a longer day, playing under floodlights if they have to.

Sunday's looking good for Beckenham though, even if it's only Middlesex.

Yes, and if it remains that way, I shall be attending. Are you having it, Ali? Whereabouts do you plonk yourself at Beckenham?

Normally we're somewhere in front of the bar building, square of the wicket. Yourself?

Hoping Middlesex bowling will put up a bit of a better effort than tonight.

I'm usually in the big green stand but I do go to the bar building to get tea.

That was some win, too. By an innings against a team featuring Saeed Anwar, Inzy, Mo Yousuf, Younis Khan, Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib. They gained revenge in the 2nd Test, though.

Morning all. So I wonder if it will be a win the toss and bowl sort of day? Reckon there must be a chance with a day's rain.
