Since the start of the twentieth century: Brearley, Hutton, Chapman, Illingworth. I'd have to check if there were any others.

(Illingworth is, I think, the only one to have retained the Ashes with a drawn series rather than a victorious one.)

Hold on, not yet. At least Illingworth managed not to lose (the series, I mean - I think Aus won two Tests in 1972, but so did England).
