I thought it was nice to see the headline "SA not distracted by controversy" and realise it wasn't to do with SA

I guess SA will be favourites, particularly in the tests but it's never easy to predict Pakistan even if they are missing the bowlers that troubled England. There's also no warm-up in the UAE and it looks like the 2 2020s, 5 ODIs and 2 tests are split between two grounds, so the conditions could add to the unpredictability.

The heat could have an effect on performances. You'd imagine that the quicks will have to be used in short spells and spinners may come to the fore.

Will be interesting to see if Pakistan can break their cycle of dysfunctionality.

Pakistan will always produce talented players, whether or not they have the right skills for all formats these days is a much tougher question. They've been trying to play test cricket with T20 batsmen in the last year, a by product of basically not having played tests for a long while. Would back SA to win the test series 2-0, but the shorter forms will likely be much more competitive.

That very much depends upon who you listen to.

What a long over first over

1 . 1wd 1wd 4 4 . 1wd 1wd 1

0.6
JA Morkel to Imran Farhat, 1 wide, it does look like Albie believes Farhat is a right hander, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Another one goes down the leg.

Some back and forth stuff. Violence from the batsmen followed by a wicket. At 6.5 an over, I put SA on top but a blitz from Razzaq could change that.

When I last saw the score it was 84/1 around the 20th over- what a collapse!

Yup they should have done but by only beating Pakistan with more than ten overs to spare they have let themselves down. Yuvraj and afridi would have won that with 30 overs left. As for his six overs at less than four kallis should be ashamed. It is time for sa to ditch this dinosaur who has no place in the modern game. The cramp after bowling in heat then batting shows he is not fit enough too. DROP KALLIS NOW

I like the way you keep disproving points that were never made

Anyway, good to see the bowlers set sa up well. Tsotsobe really kept it tight at the start.

No Smith or Kallis. Peterson and Albie instead. SA batting first on a fairly easy pitch. Good start for Amla. Should have a better day than yesterday (not that that was awful).

Not the prettiest maiden 50 from Ingram but nice to get it under the belt. Could do with getting a bit of a move on though.

Anyone seen a reason why Umar Akmal and Umar Gul aren't playing at the minute? I've looked on cricinfo but can't find an explanation
