Not sure that he qualifies for this thread any more. A name the selectors want us to forget?

He's definitely one of the 24+ batsmen that are better than Moeen Ali so we should track him on here.

Can anyone settle the question of what we call these breaks in day/night first-class games? The commentators are confused, as am I.

The first break is 40 minutes, too long for tea. The timing of the second break seems more appropriate for dinner, but it's only 20 minutes.

Easier to go on referring to them as lunch and tea, in that order?

Will the achievement "100 before lunch" be consigned to oblivion?

In the Australian Tests in the winter they had a 20 minute tea break then a 40 minute dinner break which made sense to me. 4PM is a bit early to have your main 'meal' either as a fan or a player.

Buckett is top order though. Aren't we looking for 24+ batsmen who are better than therefore could replace him at 5?

Duckett isn't a real opener. He's a 4/5.

Bell-Drummond carried his bat for 84* out of a total of 180 against Notts' attack of Ball and Pattinson.

That's the type of innings that can get someone noticed.

Not another player who fails to convert his 50s

On his performance this winter he was an 8 or 9.

Any ideas why Mo is batting at 6 for Worcestershire?

You could see the logic in Clarke and maybe Hastings staying in the top order. Joe Leach going in ahead at 4 could be deemed a tad suspicious. Stokes, Rushworth and Wood is a pretty useful bowling attack.

I thought so initially but I've just noticed they messed with their batting order, promoting both Hasting and Leach. I'm not quite sure why they did this.

I thought it was to smack the new ball and get it to so soft quickly.

Read a report which suggested it might be linked to a period of expected iffy light between normal light and being properly under floodlight. Not sure if it was to protect wickets as the report also suggested they thought iffy light might favour players who played in the air more.

Buttler 1

Buttler opening the batting and Hameed at 3.

WHY?

I wouldn't be surprised if there were instructions from the ECB on this. After what happened last winter on the India tour it is fairly clear that someone in the England set-up has the hots for Buttler in a big way and is desperate to get him in the test side if at all possible.
