Injuries 2017

Plunkett - slight calf injury
Procter - calf strain
Brooks - calf injury out for 4-6 weeks.
Sidebottom - tight hamstring
Fisher - recovering from niggling hamstring injury
Mullaney - metatarsal injury to left foot
Olly Stone - long term knee injury - back later in 2017 or 2018
Cook - left hip soreness
Croft - finger
Harris - chest
Rankin - back
Fidel Edwards - hamstring
Philander - groin
Wheal - sidestrain
Stokes - shoulder muscle tear
Mills - back injury

Think that's naive. Athletes get injured in every sport. If they're never getting injured they probably aren't pushing themselves enough.

I think, in addition, the more advanced science in this day and age means players who have a "tight calf" or something similar picked up in a scan might sit out a couple of weeks, whereas 40 years ago they'd have played on through it like a man and then sometimes torn the muscle shortly after.

Most heartless decision:

In a women's league match in Denmark, a heavily pregnant woman arrived at the crease, and asked for a runner. Her request was denied, on the grounds that her incapacity had not occured during the course of the match.
