Director of England Cricket

Anybody know what this post holder does or is meant to do? Supposedly, he looks after the long term strategy of the senior team. This is a somewhat change from when Hugh Morris occupied the CEO role and oversaw the entire ECB cricket operation and future development - a job he was generally deemed to have done well. Since then, the sole contribution of his successors has been to ban players for life because they looked out windows or intervene in personnel matters because Player A poured a pint of beer over Player B. In football, such a leader of men would have been sacked by now. You gotta ask the question is this post (Director of England cricket, not my thread post Aidan) really necessary and if so what should he/she be doing? And who on Earth is actually running the England team or is accountable cos I for one don’t know, and I’m pretty sure Baylis and Root don’t know either.

Why don't you send your hate mail directly to the ECB and spare us the tedium?

Is there an icon for poetic irony?

You're missing a comma in his title.
