He struggled a bit in England last time. Shame as he is a class act.

He did well in London, 10 wickets at lords and a second innings fivefer at the Oval - the matches Pakistan won.

Still a loss for them although I would have thought that he would likely have less impact in late May over here.

I would guess Craig and Tom respectively. Craig cos his bro is usually injured, Tom because his bro was at school!

Steyn
http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/...ack-dale-steyn

"I'd love to play all formats. Like I said, I love playing cricket. I think Test cricket is the pinnacle. I'd love to try and play 100 Test matches, I don't know whether I'll get there. I'm at 86, so that's about 14 more, but being a World Cup year, there's a lot of white-ball emphasis right now. So I think we've only got five Tests until around this time next year.

"So if I'm going to look to play the 100 Test matches, I'm going to be around for the next three years. That's 38. I think I can do it. The body seems fine. I've always been fit. It's a mental thing. How long do you actually want to do it for. If you've got a family and if you've got kids - which I don't but I do have a girlfriend and two dogs that miss me - and how much are you willing to give up. I think AB [de Villiers] hit the nail on the head. He's got two young kids and he's looking at life after cricket right now. He's reached that point but I'm not there right now."

'There may also be some concern at Warwickshire. The county felt that Woakes required more bowling before returning to Test cricket following his spell in the IPL. To go from bowling a maximum of four overs to bowling in a Test, they felt, required more time and conditioning work. It will have been noted that both England seamers who went from the IPL to the Test team - Woakes and Stokes - without a warm-up match sustained injuries'.

I would think the injuries were picked up in the IPL and England knew this. In Stokes case he would not let on when injured and would play through it. There were concerns about him in a couple of IPL games. Was Woakes dropped because he was too expensive or injury?

Before a 1st Test bowlers would be expected to bowl 50/60 first class overs to be ready. Shouldn't the England bowling coach have some say?

He said after Tuesday night's remarkable victory: 'I think with only a day (before) the next game, it makes it more difficult for us to put out our strongest team.

'We've always looked at series like this, and games with one day in between, as quite rigorous for the bowlers.

'Their risk of injury goes through the roof. So we'll have to see how they pull up, and what they can do.'

In the 3 ODIs so far, Wood 24.0 Willey 22.0 Plunkett 23.1. Plunkett 6 overs last night. Wood and Willey 7. Poor things.

In baseball pitchers transitioning from relief pitching (a dozen pitches two days out of three) to starting pitching (100+ pitches every fifth day) have to be gradually "stretched out" to build up their workload. I would think the same needs to apply to seamers transitioning from T20 to tests.

While true, baseball pitching and fast bowling would in general stress completely different parts of the body.
