Some interesting and comical comments above.
Seems like "some" people just cannot handle seeing Australia doing so well in at least two forms of the game, Test ranking #1 and highest ranking Test batsman in Steve Smith. Just love reading the comments that try to alter the facts (you can say what you like but stats are stats) And the Australians take the insults as a compliment, because they know they are only attracting the spite and envy because of their success. Keep em comin' boys ! lol lol lol |

Every England/Australia Test match is a "must win" match. If you go back "a generation" which is about 25 years, there have been 15 Ashes series played (since 1989) Australia has won 10 of those series to England's 5. Four of those 10 series won by Australia were played and won in England. Since the 1989 series there have been 43 Ashes Test matches played in England of which Australia has won 19, England won 14 and there were 10 draws. So the only reason I can think of a "whole generation having no idea what it is like to see Australia win in England" is because that generation were hiding behind the sofa with blindfolds on too scared to look out to see their beloved England being humiliated by the convicts. |

But that's nothing. I was 33 before I first had sex under a Labour government. |

It is similar to me being born in 1979 and the first ashes win down under I was aware of was our demolition job in 10/11 (I don't remember mid 80s) |

Anyone old enough to remember the series played from 1989 - 2003 would remember Australia winning EIGHT series straight, four in either country.
Anyone old enough to be able to read would see that Australia has won the same number of Ashes series as England, and in that time has won 130 test matches to England's 106. See, sir vigs, it's easy to focus on certain eras to make your side look good, but look at the entire history to get the real picture. Keep posting, you give me a giggle at least. |

I merely pointed out that the youngest generation has never seen Australia win in England. And given the last few attempts you have to wonder how long it will be before they do again. The Aussie team from my generation was fantastic with the likes of the Waugh twins, warne, ponting, McGrath, Gillespie etc. The last few series have involved Shane Watson Ffs and now the batting relies on someone older than me. Wouldn't it be fun if England won both series this summer then we would hold every single test match trophy we play for. |

Australia in 2004/5 (between the win in India and the Ashes defeat) would've done I'd imagine.
And presumably when they won the Ashes again in 2006/7, and when they beat South Africa in 2008/9 after losing to them just months prior to that.

Actually I think they'd lost to India as well in 2008/9, so that last time probably didn't count

And I am still trying to work out why you pointed that out, as it had absolutely nothing to do with the comment I made, that you were responding to. You did not mention the fact Australia holds the #1 test ranking, or Smith being the highest rated test batsman. Instead you handpick a game that Australia lost badly and posted a link to the story about it. If I went through the records and posted links to every match that England lost miserably we would be here all night, and you would be reduced to tears. Then again, if Australia had the same test record as England I would probably be looking for "feel good" stories as well. ..............."The last few series have involved Shane Watson Ffs and now the batting relies on someone older than me."................. You can forget about Watson, he's retired now, (and somehow Australia managed to reach #1 in the Test rankings with him dragging them down !) and you are dreaming (again) if you believe the Australians rely on the batting of of Voges, who just happened to string some good scores together without losing his wicket too often. Hope you are not worrying about the age factor too much, as the average age of the current Australian test side is 27, as opposed to the older Poms who average 28. Australia has two players aged 30 or more (Voges and Neville) and England has four (Cook, Compton, Broad and Anderson) ........."Wouldn't it be fun if England won both series this summer"............. Oh, yes ! That would be jolly well divine ! Are you sure you are 36 ? ![]() |

You are getting better and better with each post ! You are amazing when it comes to sending your Englishmen up, while putting the Aussies down, but then I am used to it. Even desperate enough to bring golf into it. What next ? Ping pong and darts ? Please keep them coming, I am lapping it up and will be sure to remember your comments when the next Ashes series starts in Nov 17 and may even play a few back to you when the time is right. And sloppy, your comments don't even raise a grin compared to this guy's. But do keep trying. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Serious question Micky.
If you could pick one batsman who would it be? Root or smith? Enjoy handing out beatings to weaker teams while being embarrassed by the big boys. I remember when England were like that and I did not like it. I much prefer embarrassing Aussies and winning in saffer land. |
