Kieran Powell, doesn't deserve to truly get on this thread, but he's got a whole load of 30odd and 40odd scores in the current series v Pakistan and has shown some headless chicken moments on getting to those scores, which is a little similar to one or other of the players who do get 50odd.

And even when such players do score centuries it is often at an appalling scoring rate.

It would probably be too cruel to mention the latest effort from the wonder boy in getting 98 yesterday. He should probably have been at the crease to see them over the line but even so it was his team's outstanding knock.

Sangakkara got a 50 in the same innings I think he should be in this thread his conversion rate must be horrible this season I remember him getting 84 in his last FC game as well :-)

Roy gets 87 in his first, first class knock of the summer continuing a well established ability to make contributions rather than game changing knocks in the longest form of the game. Apparently it was quite some knock too.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't had a bump. 9 unconverted 50s in the test just gone with just the one century. 6 of the half centuries between 50 and 60 too.

How many of those were "pretty" though? Bavuma looked decent on the 3rd morning, but he already had 40-odd in the bank by then. Not sure Philander really counts either, and Cook looked typically grindy rather than pretty. I think they're the only 3 unconverted 50s I got to see any of.

I'd say that Mo and de Kock's first innings efforts might be made mention of judging by the highlights. I'm sure that I would have been more up for this if I had much watched it live.

PS, since starting this thread, we've got to a ton of posts here quicker than a certain someone has managed to achieve in first class cricket!
