It's not the BCCI, it's Starsports who already bought the package from the BCCI and are now trying to recoup some of that money. They want 20m, no one is willing to pay that.

Surprised if they paid 20 million after all it's hardly prime time viewing, except for the highlights programme.

They didn't. It was way short of that figure which is why Star have been holding out as long as possible for a better offer.

Well that's certainly not an Indian thing or indeed a cricket one.

Looks like Cook & Strauss are going to front the coverage on C4.

Gavaskar always have some nice stories, but he gets too nationalistic at times. Siva and Deep Dasgupta have nothing much to add, Karthik provides some insights with spin bowling while Bhogle is there because he's been there for a long time. One usual suspect who seems to be missing is Sanjay Manjrekar, who provides polarizing views at times and hence isn't too popular among majority of Indians.

Nick Knight's been there from the Aussie series with the Indian broadcasting team. I've not really followed Butcher's commentary, so that would be something new. I only wish they don't pump in those artificial crowd sounds, though I might be wishing in vain.

Well if you are up at 4:00 am or so because you can't sleep, I guess you only need turn on the tv for a short while for them and you will be nodding off real quick.

Got to be honest, I can't stand Knight. Don't know what it is about him which grates on me so much, but he does. Butcher is good though.

I generally watch on the ipad in bed early on with the sound off so I don't wake anyone up.

It could be the fact that he never seems to add anything to the action happening on the field, though that is the case with most commentators these days.

During the Aus-Ind series, though, he used to come every half hour or so after the Fox Sports gang, so that was a definite improvement.

Sounds like a greedy contract between BCCI and Starsports then.

Not that I can remember but BBC once televised a live morning session of an Ashes test in the 80s. Just one session of one test but I thought it was great seeing as this didn't usually happen.

Channel 4 have tweeted to say this is still in negotiation and the news broke from an unofficial C4 twitter account.

Looks like we still have to wait.
