Cricket on TV in the UK

Just had a look on All 4 for highlights, could find none (for any day).

Has anyone else found any?

The problem may be the short notice that C4 got - they certainly didnt have time to do any advertising,and apart from the occasional reminder from a continuity announcer theres little to show its on - even the TV magazines dont show it and continue to show the regular schedule of daytime stuff,because they were printed before C4 got the rights.
It may be different for the next match,once C4 have had time to sort it out.

I found some, yes, because I've got them as part of YuppTV's package (including live coverage), which is how I am watching it in Sweden (I guess YuppTV must have the rights for Europe outside the UK and several other countries).

As I think the coverage I am watching through YuppTV is the same as Channel 4's - it's from host broadcaster Star Sports - I am not sure why you haven't been able to see the highlights packages.

Although right at the moment the only days available on Yupp are days 1-3.

You'd think they might have basically just shown most of the day's play again for those who missed it. This is where dedicated sports channels show FTA imposters for what they are.

Imposters and Council Service - somewhat harsh.

But Sir C and Jock are quite right to stand up for dedicated sports channels. You have to pay for them and they are worth paying for when you can watch all the major matches/games/tournaments in the sports of your choice. Complete live coverage, highlights, extended highlights, repeats of highlights, and discussion shows.

Channel 4 have given us some discussion in the breaks and post-play. But mainly Cook and Strauss trading mock insults.

No, they specifically said there would be highlights on All 4. I'm looking through the Sky Q options of All 4 and there are none there. It seems they're on the website but not the TV.

So they are there,just on the website... not through your Sky Q option - on the other hand you did have the choice of watching it live with Sky ?

Yes, no problem there, I watch on my iPad in bed during the early hours. But on these rare occasions, it is nice to wallow in the victory by taking in some more highlights. A shame they're not available through straight to TV.

I've notice before All4 doesn't have all their programmes available on Sky. I wanted to watch the West Wing again which is supposed to be on there but you can't via Sky.

Overall I'm more ****ed off that I pay all this money for Sky Sports and they couldn't be arsed to buy the rights for this tour. If they won't show stuff from India and BT have cricket from the West Indies and NZ now, there's barely any point in it. There's a chance they won't get the Ashes too.

I think I’m just too lazy to faf with inserting a DVD into the slot and waiting for it to take me to the place I want to start from ...

Yes I have it on DVD too and can't be bothered loading them up It was on Sky Atlantic during the daytime right up until I got Sky, typically. TV programmes are often swapping between the streaming platforms.

It's a sorry state of affairs when people can't be bothered to put a DVD in the slot. Technology has made us too lazy. I bet that's why Emmerdale Farm changed its name to just Emmerdale. People just couldn't be bothered to read the title to the end.

It’s not quite that bad. It’s hoping that the DVD will pick up from where you last viewed but somehow it doesn’t.

Oh, I now realise you were replying to sharky. But we’re both a bit impatient with DVDs.

I recently got a new Sky Box as my previous one stopped working properly. It’s not SkyQ but much more advanced than my last one. Things like automatically recording next episodes of things even if you haven’t told it to “record series.” It will also seamlessly continue to playback the next episode of something as soon as you finish the previous one. (Unless you tell it not to!).

The last DVD player in our house recently said its final goodbye. We've been selling a load of old DVD box sets on eBay. We did well out of Harry Potter and Scooby Doo!!

Apparently, C4 will be providing Test highlights at lunchtimes in the 2nd Test. The current package was only available via the app or website.

However, the BCCI have blocked C4 from providing social media snippets on twitter/facebook etc.

It's been great to see cricket on free-to-air TV for the first time in a long time. I realise that it was all hastily cobbled-together, but part of me feels like they're burying the highlights a little.

If they could also broadcast 1 hour of highlights on C4 in the evening or afternoon, I think it would generate more interest from first-timers for the game. No one who has never seen cricket before is that likely to start watching at 4am or watch an entire session in the morning, but they might get involved in watching highlights packages. I think the highlights packages on C5 of the 2013 Ashes were my first exposure to cricket.
