Very poor track for a first day. Superb from Mo. Poor sportsmanship from Kohli. Why didn't the umpire give him out and make him ask for a review if he had doubts?

Yes. Although hopefully that will Negate some of the Toss benefit, hopefully.

If we can bowl well after lunch we have a chance.

One for Jock to wake up to.

Ali to Kohli, OUT
Wow, Moeen has knocked over Kohli for a duck. The India captain hangs around. He can't believe what has just happened! Moeen tosses it up, finds drift outside off, then it breaks back in so very sharply to hit the top of off. This offbreak dips sharply as well, creating distance between the bat and the pitch of the ball, making Kohli's attempt to drive through the covers look a whole lot worse. Moeen just burst through Kohli's defences and silenced Chepauk

Leach gets pujara again when he just doesnít get out to SLA.

You know it's s spinners pitch when both Kohli and Pujara are out to spin in the first session of the first day.

England slightly on top with India 3 wickets down at lunch but it's going to be tough for them batting last on this pitch.

Despite losing 3 wickets I think India would be happy with 106 in the first session.

Pants appearance will be welcomed by many this afternoon, it will either be a massive letdown or a run a minute, unfortunately, nobody knows.

Shades of MPV vs Tendulkar - although he was a better player.

Over and scoring rates look ominous.

Wait - Kohli reviewed being bowled ?

Shades of WG Grace.

Surprised they can find a helmet big enough for his ego.

Rohit and Pant could take the game away from England with some quick scoring. 350 might be enough on this pitch.

England will be delighted with 3 wickets but they haven’t been able to maintain control and Rohit looks ominous. Stone was very impressive. Moeen was Moeen - a load of filth and then an unplayable delivery.

Or India could collapse from here.

All Englandís eggs likely to be in the Joe Root basket.

Stone was bowling tightly until that over. Leach has dried up one end - needs a partner.

Tough to know what a good score is on this pitch. I am a bit of a lightweight and only get up for the post lunch session. It does appear that it gets a little easier once the ball gets soft but the support bowling needs to be a little tighter from what I can see. A great nut from Moeen but needs to tighten up. A tough ask for him to be consistent though given his lack of cricket.

If a county produced this track they would be deducted points. Explosions in second over. If india get 300 then we are going to need to bat very very well and hope for a third innings capitulation SL style.

Rohit showing how it’s done - playing with rhubarb.

Pitch flattening out ?

Slipping away big time here.

Apart from Leach the bowling looking innocuous.

Get Root on.
