India are giving chances. It's just that they're doing it in places where we don't have fielders.

Isn't that the art of good cricket.

That cover drive from Rahene was just gorgeous. Got to the pitch and made it a half volley. Sensational batting.

He bowled two very expensive overs earlier and has not ben seen since.

Cant imagine it will be long though as England really need a breakthrough.

Hmm - the after tea buffet is now open.

Between the toss, Rohit's innings and a certain amount of luck, this match looks done and dusted already.

When will India declare? 600? 700?

Did England really need to rest Anderson for this match? He only bowled 11 overs in the second innings last week and we have a longer break between this match and the next. I'll bet India must have been delighted when they heard he wasn't playing.

There appears to have been an inflexible preconceived strategy to pick different players for different matches. Making four changes (only one enforced as far as I can tell) when you're playing the same opponents on the same ground where you've just beaten them handsomely looks arrogant to me.

Having Buttler out there for just one game, then sending him home, is ludicrous. Either he should still be there now, or he shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Kohli's reaction to his dismissal was incredible. Comedic genius.

Just this once we should have played both Anderson and Broad. We have put a bowler with 500+ test wickets on the bench for a bowler with one test to his name.

Agree about Buttler, I found that very odd.

Surely England should have been going hell for leather to win this one and put themselves in total charge of the series?

I can't help but think all of these changes have assisted India more than England.

Stone has bowled well, Broad less so.

Rahane is really living a charmed life, and the commentators seem to be celebrating his 50 like he's just scored a chanceless double.

Chat is they want both to play in the 3rd D/N test.

But that has meant the wrong attack for this match.

As an Indian fan, I can absolutely confirm that and Iím sure the Indian batsmen were even more relieved. England have some fine fast bowlers but Anderson is simply something else.

4 changes smacks of 1990s selection policy. Usually though we used to make these changes after losing tests.

The new "IT" Thing in cricket are the words "Rotation Policy".
It is a complete farce, even with back to back test's, surely you go all out and get into an unassailable position in the series before you rotate, injury permitting of course.
They have rotated one pie throwing spinner with another, would do the confidence of Bess no good at all, considering he just took a recent 5fer. even if he got a bit lucky with some of the wickets.

Nah they'll keep on batting until bowled out or so they can bowl X overs at the end of a session leavinga certain degree of hardness of the new ball left for when they resume next morning/session...............

[if you read Aggers' 'defence' of Root's non-declaration and tactics, no real justification of the approach regardless of logic or illogic behind it]

Rahane was dismissed in the first test by Bess and Anderson...
