It is a complete farce, even with back to back test's, surely you go all out and get into an unassailable position in the series before you rotate, injury permitting of course.
They have rotated one pie throwing spinner with another, would do the confidence of Bess no good at all, considering he just took a recent 5fer. even if he got a bit lucky with some of the wickets.
Someone has to make a name for themselves as an innovator, taking up 'the Covid Cause' and mental elf as some kind of crusader even though it will be, like any other selection policy, applied selectively.....

Which Test is the rotation policy going to be applied to Root, Stokes and I venture maybe even Leach, Burns and Sibley......? Or only to bowlers and Buttler....? There may be something in it, but I don't believe it's more than a smokescreen to avoid too close an explanation for comings, goings, restings and droppings...............

Inspect the droppings and you may well find out what BS is..........!

If we adopt a selection policy of 4 changes per game that means Gary Ballance might get another go in the future.

Bess shows his feelings about being dropped by digging up half the pitch.

Bess repairing his pitch mark - good golf etiquette.

This has been incredible batting from these two. I guess sometimes they just bat very well.

Bess very lucky then not to do a Simon jones injury when that one went through him.

Moeen has been bowling a few overs too long and for all the credit Root took for his captaincy last test, he has let things drift here.

Turns out it is easier to captain with 600 runs on the board!

This is like when Aussie captains with a bowling attack of McGrath warne Gillespie plus one were seen as great!

Root should bring himself on. More often than not he breaks stubborn partnerships.

He does and almost took a wicket first ball.

Looked decent in that over.

Broad has looked pretty innocuous all day really. Moeen hasn't really offered any more threat than Bess (who might at least have got Rohit out with a dirty half tracker or something by now) and is leaking runs. Rohit has batted beautifully though.

I'd have expected Stokes to bowl more, perhaps there's an injury niggle. Stone and Leach have been absolutely fine.

My optimism at the start of this test is now running towards the sunset with its arse on fire.

His bowing average is 29.95 for 83 wickets. As a point of comparison the best spinner England have had for decades Swann had a comparable career average of 29.96 and averaged 22 with the bat.

So for some reason you are not happy with a bowler who has virtually identical figures as the best spin bowler for decades.
Moeen's bowling average in India is now 67.54 (64.90 pre match).

Swann 25.3. Gilo 33. Monty 38.

I think looking at that from the other side would have helped but I think the boot was fully on the line there.

And as India know to their cost from the first test, you cannot carry two bowlers in a test match.

I think Ali learned his lesson going early on leach last match saying his career was ending. Maybe you should think about it?

That looked out to me. Lovely delivery BUT concerning!

That’s clearly out. I’m absolutely staggered he’s given that not out.

He continues to disappoint. What is his average in first innings now, has it come down below 80?

GENERATOR!

Strange Stokes has bowled only 2 overs. He's often England's golden arm.

Leach has deserved that. That has been coming. If we can get a big finish we still have a slight sniff.
