Largely pointless stat but amused me. Jimmy Anderson is 15 months older than umpire Nitin Menon who is standing in this Test. The last time a player was older than an umpire was Misbah and Michael Gough in 2016.

Realistically, however, as brilliant as JA is, he’s unlikely to get anywhere near Warne and Murali.

I saw somewhere that in the last three matches Joe Root has, in one of his innings, scored more runs than the opposition side in one of theirs. Never happened before as a consecutive feat.

Also India have only lost four years matches at home in the last ten years, 3 against England and the last defeat was four and fourteen matches ago against the Aussies.

Not only is 329 the highest score made with zero extras, but this was also the fifth longest innings without an extra, and longest in 1878 Tests played since July 1962:
