A genuine oversight according to TMS from a statement made by Clive Lloyd

So were the Ashes included in last year's awards?

Can anyone explain me how did Punter get nominated for cricketer of the year? Leaving that double century at Hobart when he was dropped early in his innings I can't recall him doing anything in the last one year.
Maybe the panel of judges were inspired by his captaincy of introducing North at Lord's lol. |

Right decision IMHO under the circumstances.

The awards are from 24 Aug 2009 to 10 Aug 2010. The 4th Test was started on 26th August. Even if he was found guilty now, the awards are for past performances. Should he also hand back his MOM and MOS awards over the past year? Will Flower have to pick a new Man of the Series? Will his name come be taken off the Honours Board at Lords. It really is quite complicated.

I've looked at that list several times and I just can't seem to find Kamran Akmal in there.

Surprise, surprise, batsmen win all the awards. I honestly felt that Swann, for a mixture of character, charisma, quality and guile, was the cricketer of the year. I think it should be about more than just churning out figures - it's about being somebody who made a great contribution to cricket in all areas. Swann did more for off-spin and bowling in general in the year than others did for their respective art forms - in my admittedly very humble opinion. However, his original non-inclusion told everyone straight away that he had no chance. He probably wasn't Indian enough.

Over 1000 runs and 200 in oneday cricket? doesn't look bad I think.

Finally Anderson gets a bit of recognition. He atleast got 18 wickets against SA unlike say Bollinger who got all his wickets against weak teams during the voting period.

Thanks, it's nice that an Indian can acknowledge the greatness of an Englishman.

That might almost have been witty had every member on this forum not spent half their life slagging off every English player.
