I know. Which makes the whole interview all the more frustrating!

Trying to make himself look in the know as per usual, what a ****.

Is it me or is Paul Downton looking more like Giles Clarke every day?

The ECB are clowns: Example #396

This must be a joke. How can this not be a joke?

Unbelievable. I remember reading that article and never thought there was an insinuation of racism at all during the piece, just that Carberry feels his face doesnt fit in the set up. He isnt the first player and probably wont be the last who feels that way. ECB sounding defensive as usual.

I bet his face would fit if he actually made a meaningful contribution on the field. That and being able to catch the ball.

I thought Giles Clarke had told everybody to move on from Pietersen? If that was the case what the hell is Downton doing here? Check out some of the quotes attributed to him. What a clown.

He's a total clown, and given how many players have since spoken up for KP, he's just making a further fool of himself.

How long before Downton resigns?

He may be just the patsy in all of this but he's never looked comfortable in the job.

This article could have fitted on one of several threads but to be honest it is about the wider issues about the team and therefore I think that best of all it goes here. Fascinating article and I agree with so many aspects of it.

"England have made so many controversial, and unpopular, decisions that they have exhausted the faith of their fans. The dismissal of Kevin Pietersen, the unquestioning retention of Cook and Flower, the attacks on people “outside cricket”, the rehiring of Peter Moores with the ludicrous assertion that he is “outstanding coach of his generation”, the stubborn refusal to concede that the team are at a low ebb. It will take time for the team to win back, match by match, those who feel alienated by the management. "

Yes I read this earlier. It is a good article.

It will indeed take time for the team to win back those who feel alienated by the management; even longer given that so many of the alienated are determined not to be won back, as might be seen from the comments BTL.

"many fans and followers....feel they have suffered enough".

Indeed...a whole ten months since a resounding series victory. Those poor success-starved fans. How on earth would they have coped with the second half of the Eighties?
